Rx-v2090

My first Yamaha piece. This was given to me by my cousin after he recently upgrading to a RX-Z7. I am quite impressed in her ability to make my Paradigm ST-120's sing. I had those speakers hooked to a ton of different vintage receivers, all failed in comparison to this bad boy..

Analog King have you tried reversing your NS-1000M's with the tweeter sides outside? For that close, it might image better; but I never tried them toed-in.

Here it was the Luxmen that ushered out the Sui's and Marantzii. However the TU-X1 won't budge--very stubborn analog tuner. :king:

One odd piece is the AX-900. I think it may be superior to the 900U version; lots of Black Gate caps in there! DOA at the moment. :(

sure! did you find out what i messed up yet (besides the half-assed fix to the wrong-sized screw i got stuck in my new $50 filter cap)?

that mess is my making, jim.

i got the new caps from Mouser or Digikey, can't remember. they're $50/each (22000uF/100V, IIRC), and i don't think you can find them cheaper from any of the other big shops. both the originals and the new ones had screw terminals, but i made the mistake of thinking the new threads were the same size as the old ones...until it was too late. the original screws are a pretty soft metal and it just got stuck. had to try to solder it down instead, but my solder wasn't taking very well to the connection so i just kept adding more until it was solid enough. i'd be thrilled if Avionic could find a classier solution.

Were those caps originally solder-type? I'm pretty sure the filter caps in my P2200 are screw type and may be due for a change one of these days. Got a good source you can divulge?

honestly, i don't even care if you do anything with that, as long as you think the connection is good and safe enough from an electrical standpoint. i just want to be able to use the sucker! FWIW, the only other thing that might be relevant that i may not have mentioned before was that i changed the 10uF bipolars on the driver boards to poly's. i doubt it's an issue here, but i've heard that in rare cases the circuit may not like like that change very much.

Don't feel bad, he's got a good crack at resurrecting a T-7 I couldn't get going because I was too lazy and cheap and unskilled to track down a potential fix in a $12 chip.

Like repairing the damaged threads and using the correct screw..Its called a "bottom Tap". According to the spec sheet its a 10-32 thread. 10-32 bottom tap --Just happen to have a couple laying around.

Saved you 50 clams Chris..BTW what was that green sticky stuff ? Extracted broken screw and repaired damaged threads.
