Calling All Yamahas. Time to Post Your Pics

Most desirable of the M series is of curse the TOTLs M-80/85, but all the M amps have the same build quality.

And then... Yamaha always have a twist up the sleeves :) The M-2 might just be more desirable than the later M's but also more expensive than the "normal" M's. It is one of Yamahas master pieces in amp design.

Another M that is outside the normal M's is the M-70 & 50; they come of the B-6 design and have the X-power design. Some love it some hate it, if you like the R-2000 sound then you can't go wrong here.

The best buys is properly the M-40 since it has no fancy meters and being less desirable by the masses since it has... less power (120W@8ohm) but it does have same audio features as the 80/85. Next will be the 65 & 45, they have the big meters but less power compared with the 80/85.

I'm looking at Yamaha receivers and amplifiers that were available in 1977-78, in particular the CA-1010 (amp), and CR-1020 (rec). The receivers seem to have much nicer cases than the amps. Or is that just a photographic illusion?

Oddly enough the CR-1000 has the same power amp board as the CA-1000 so that part could do Class A, but the power transformer does not have the Class A B+ taps and there is no switch. They could have given the CR-1000 Class A but I guess they gave up on that idea because they could not get one more switch on the faceplate.

I have been starring whimsically at all this beautiful gear. I am very much looking forward to a CR-1020 unit from Merrylander. For now, it is just me and my clock radio.

However, I would love a pair of separates and they just seem impossible to obtain. If anyone out there who knows where a pair of CA1010 and CT1010 units are around, please let me know. That will be an easy sell for whoever. The ones on sale that I have been able to find on auction seem to be way over priced for the number problems that the sellar is listing in the description. But, I could be wrong.

My experience the past couple weeks suggests that you are definately right about not finding the two units together. I will hunt them down separately. But, there does seem to be a bit of a dry spell these days. Thanks.

Yamaha Detectives

Can any one ID this Yamaha stack, the photo is not the best but its all I have to go by.
Should be amp, pre, tuner and tape deck. The vintage is unknown.

Totem it looks like from the pianocraft series or second guess the MCR- series (Micro Component System).

Tape deck is opper right, amp upper left, pre might be lower left.

Switches

You can't have too many switches:yes:

Oddly enough the CR-1000 has the same power amp board as the CA-1000 so that part could do Class A, but the power transformer does not have the Class A B+ taps and there is no switch.
