Can NOT get platter off spindle!!!!

Maybe some Kroil. I would not use more heat than generated by a hair dryer. Let the Kroil soak for a while. It will penetrate. Just a drop is all that is needed.
I don’t think you understand how stuck this feels like it is. it feels like the platter and then metal spindle are one.

Hold it upside down over something soft. Or, just ship it to me in an unpadded box via UPS. I guarantee the platter will find it's way off and destroy the whole thing.

What you have is dissimilar metal corrosion. The spindle shaft is probably ferrous (steel) and the platter is aluminum (?). So, yes, the parts are somewhat welded together by the corrosion process and exchange of ions betwixt the two. Using the creeping oil (Kroil) you might temperature cycle the parts. Heat the platter with the hair dryer and then touch the spindle with (dry?) ice. Repeat this process while applying (very) gentle but steady upward pressure. It may take a set of helping hands. The aluminum has a much higher coefficient of heat expansion that the steel which will help break it loose when heated and cooled.

I did not say WD40, I said Kroil. The difference in a true creeping oil and the duct tape brigades doing everything poorly WD40 is night and day.

Kroil and a hot soldering iron on the tip for a few minutes. Once the platter is off, you may want to check other gears, pulleys, etc for signs of seizure. Prolly need to thoroughly clean all parts and re-grease.

I mean should I use the heat?

Looking at that picture, I don't think it's a tapered spindle. I think it's attached some other way. That tip that's showing looks like it fits into the lower spindle.

As mentioned previously, does the rubber mat and white ring come off the platter?

I would purchase a butane torch lighter at a smoke shop and apply the flame directly to the spindle portion for about 10 seconds. Then get some freeze spray at you local hardware or auto supply store and apply the spray directly to the spindle before it cools down too much. Spray the spindle liberally as you want the cold spray to penetrate and shrink the spindle. That should break up the corrosion (if there is any) and allow you to remove the platter.

When something is seized I find that PB Blaster works better than WD-40. Sometimes it’s best to let it work overnight.
PB Blaster is a very good penetrant and is easy to find in stores. Kroil may be the hot lick but it's tougher to find and more expensive. I've never had PB let me down so that's what I keep handy. Like gadget said, WD40 has its uses but not so much as a penetrant.

@Catherine82 watch the youtube video I posted in post 45 and see where the platter separates. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if it's the same mechanical connection as the one you have. The center spindle does not appear to be the actual separating point, rather the bushing just outside it.

How about 4 cedar shims? (the kind used for installing door frames)
Tap in to apply some (not to the point of distorting platter) pressure in 4 places between metal platform and platter. (might be best to protect the platform with thin cardboard)
Let it set for a few days, periodically tap the spindle with a soft-faced hammer.
Use in conjunction with the penetrant.
Like watching paint dry, right?

im a engineer and if you cant get it off, stop , and take it in to a work shop and help will be there, for a job like that id say you would not be charged
just my 2c

BSR turntables and changers suffer from hardened up grease. Bear in mind there is also a c-clip which must be removed. And expect to use a heat gun but not too close to get the hardened up grease and oil heated up so you can get it loose.

You will need another person...gently lift up on the platter so you are lifting the entire unit JUST BARELY off the table. Then give the spindle a "tap" with a small hammer, a brass one if possible. The shock will let the unit drop and the platter will be in your hand.
That is if it doesn't have a clip holding it on, which you should see if there is one.

Make sure when lifting it you have a good, even grip, side to side, on the platter.

This is exactly what I would do until it came off, it had a clip for a reason, it comes off.
