Can of Worms! KLIPSCH "pecking order" ?

Rick, that is Ron's sheltie. He might be small, but two years ago he found and dragged those Klipschorns home all by himself..without a scratch..shelties are ranked as the seventh or eighth smartest dog breed for a reason.

I have my sheltie looking for a set of JBL Harlans. :music:

I agree with you except, I would rank Forte better than Heresy (I haven't heard the Heresy IIIs so maybe that would make a difference).
 
I have Heresys and Quartets and I would put the Quartets right on top of the Heresys (better bass) when properly placed...but Heresys above the Quartets if you cannot properly place the Quarts...just my .02...can't go wrong with either...Heresy IIIs at the top of these too.

Thank you all for all your input/thoughts/suggestions etc. regarding my
"Can of Worms" KLIPSCH pecking order post. I must say, I find it interesting the wide differences of opinions. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.
Well, I guess I'll just have to keep on searching
(and hoping) that I might come across one of the more popular
top choices at a BARGIN price. Oooooh, the pain
(this is the part where I again have to tell the story) about how a woman responded to my "hobbiest seeks" ad (about a year ago).
From this Estate, I bought some BEAUTIFUL Audio gear such as
a SAE MARK IV DM Amp and 1B Preamp with MINT MINT MINT condition
Wood cases. I also bought a Technics SL-1300 Turntable in Mint condition.
Other items included a nice DXB unit and a PHASE LINER unit with the package deal. Now, for the (cry in my Beer, sad part)...I ask the woman if there were any Speakers for sale ? I was told yes but, she had sold them to some guy about three months earlier. "Oooh" (says I) then I asked
"what make Speakers did you Husband own ?"
Oooh, they were these HUGH Klipsch K-Horns (as she showing me the empty space they once occupied). "Oooh, do you mind my asking how much you sold them for ?" (why ooh why didn't I leave well enough alone)
She: "Oooh, I sold them for.........
FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS the pair." Arrrrrrrrrugh! Me, why not me ?
Oooh well lol. No wonder all the other MINT gear was still available.
I can just envision this guy QUICKLY whipping out his wallet, giving the old lady $400.00 cash, backing up a truck to the house and SKIPING TOWN with the Booty as fast as possible! No time to mess with the other gear lol.
Ooh well, at least I did get some good stuff!

depending on the wood veneer (mostly Oak, Walnut or Birch Raw) and condition...anything under $750.00...much under is smokin...

I am just wondering how many have replied to this thread to rank Klipsch speakers who have never heard the speakers they are ranking?

I personally agree with Bob's list but I haven't heard the Forte's so I cannot compare those. The Heresy's I own and others I've heard do seem to lack bass but certainly have their place in the mix when coupled with other speakers with bass and placement is important.

The Cornwalls are simply hard to beat for the price they can be had for on the used market...
 
The only Klipsch I've heard were Fortes! And I bought them immediately to replace my JBL 4311's.

The Fortes are serving me well.

Well, if I was to add my last dog to the list, AK would need considerably more bandwidth, as Tibetan Terrier (or as we loving referred to ours, "the Tibetan Terriorist") would come somewhere between #2,000,671 and 2,000,678.
 
I realize they aren't the legends of the older, bigger, units, but how badly do the new Klipsch products fare? As an example, I have an opportunity to get a pair of the Mahogany KLF-20's in perfect condition. Based on eBay and Orion pricing I would get a great financial deal. But in terms of sound, how badly would I suffer compared to the units on the current list? Or compared to other speakers I could hope to find for $100 or so.

I've heard Cornwalls (several sets CW 1 and II's), Heresy II's, and Khorns. And the Cornwalls w/varying xover upgrades do impact output IMO.
Belles, Jubilees and LaScalas I have not. I cannot comment on Heritage series vs the Fortes' and other models.
 
KLFs are the Legend series??? Held in high regard as well...just not as easy to tweak I think but those that have them, seem to like them...
