Can someone tell me how this connector comes off ?

The connector is two piece.
The top comes off, it snaps on.
The metal tabs are one way types.
They are supposed to wedge the wires and the top cover helps push them into the wire.

Getting the wires out is tricky because the spring metal tries to keep the bite. Slipping a tiny tool in the get the metal to let go works.

BUT, be careful! I’ve had trouble once they are put back. The metal seems to loose its grab and I get bad connection afterward.

I try to not take those connectors apart.

Yes good description
Not a big fan of the connectors. Got everything back together fixed the infamous rotary encoder randomly changing inputs, just needed some deoxit
Pretty beefy amp, lots of inputs and 105 watts, take a look at the bracket holding the two big power caps, neat design

Looks like it is meant to accept the wire while in the closed position. Right?

Not totally closed. The plastic top is supposed to be loosen, you fit the wires, and press the plastic top until "clicks" and keep a secure connection.

Actually you don't need to completely remove the top piece to remove the wires, just loosen it.

You did it wrong. Those connectors work pushing down the plastic piece, and you can pull off the wires. To reconnect only have to insert the wires back. I was working last week on the same amp.
