Kind of a similar(but different) issue I had to deal with in a client situation..
It involves defense contractors, one wanted to provide the ability for visitors to 'cast' their computers to a display in a conference room..
The product I installed allowed that(without network connection which can be hacked) short range rf(basically bluetooth, which of course can also be hacked), and was white listed with the contractor, but required a driver on each device.. each of the laptops were secure, and lacked the driver..
The IT department(tech support) for the contractor could send a mass email to all of them, which would install the driver, but they thought that was too much trouble for everyone..

Thanks! Ghostery is working for me. So I don't need to change any settings. :thumbsup:

I just wondered how to disable JavaScript in modern browsers. I hadn't had to do that in decades.

The one problem I still have on this site is that it sometimes denies access to certain posts. The only way to access them is to log out, log back in, and try again. This usually works (like 75% of the time). If I log on an hour or so later, I don't have problems opening that particular post. However, I may have problems with others. :idea: o_O

Can’t even get to that point to logout, 403 no permission to access site.

I get that too. It looks like a dot moving back and forth in the tab at the top. Like you, I log out and back in and I'm good to go.
 
First, thanks for attending to that adware-trouble; whatever you did, works for me ;)

However, what persists, and my feel is that it has to do with updates, is that...randomly...on my Android cellphone I can click on a thread and it just sits there percolating...click on another thread and it loads it rapidly...go back to first thread and it may load or not. So I move on, go back to that first one and it loads :dunno:

This is just on my phone, not my desktop. This is only site, even with same software, where this happens.

Also randomly, but more often than not, I can click on the notification icon ("bell") and get an error message. Logging in and out does not help. Eventually, it will work.

This all is on my cell. Can't think I am only one. But the advertising-thing is fixed for me, no pop-ups, adverts inside threads or panels blank or otherwise on the cell screen :thumbsup:

i'm on a completely updated win pc.
with updated fire fox and have the same issues.

Hello, I sent a message a few days ago through the "contact us" link about how to access a draft, that was saved multiple times, after having the browser tab close on me unexpectedly. I could have sworn I knew how to do this but I can't for the life of me find my last draft, which was extensive. Please help. Thanks

in the "post reply" box
at the top right is a floppy disc icon [ beside preview button ]
i believe thats where your draft would be saved.

Hi, Orsen, thanks for the response. When I click that little "disk" icon all I get is "Save" and "Delete". There is nothing about any previously saved drafts. So, I'm familiar with the function of that icon here on AK, and I was manually saving my draft and it was automatically saving the draft as well, but now I don't have access to the draft I was saving the other day. I have no idea what the deal is. I found one other guy asking the same question here a few years back but I don't think he got an answer. I think the actual answer should be a "sticky"!

That seems to be the case more often with photos uploaded directly to this site. If I use Insert Image <CTRL-P> in the post box and link to a photo's URL on Photobucket, they always load.

Prolly will work with any other image sharing service. :idea:

I know the admins have been in the trenches for a while, but I’ve messaged a couple of them when requested to do so, with Sys info and IP address. I haven’t received any response for over a month. I just want a response to whether my IP is blocked or does my URL request even makes it that far. My subscription is expiring this month and I won’t renew it via phone, would rather do it with my secure Linux machine. Once again if anyone else has a raspberry pi handy can you attempt to reach the site? Thanks.

If you add me to that message or send the info in a new one, I can check IPs at the AK Admin control panel. However, doing a quick check through of your past used IPs over the last year, I don't see any of those IPs blocked at that level. The server level might be different and suspect it is from some security setting with Cloudflare.
