So, I've got a thread on here restoring a set of CV Cerwin Vega circa 1975 T15 s. Have (I think) isolated a capacitor as having blown; really avoiding any and all soldering "sittings"; ideally would like to know what the capacitor I think is fritzed is (its the big silver one on the board at the top left corner - in the midrange circuit
);
I know the real answer is to pull it from the board and read the (very faint) stampings on the back (why stamp or install so you can't read it ! ugh ! .. .
Also, is there a paticular manuf / brand of cap I should be looking for to maintain the sonic properties of this vintage speaker as it was / as it was balanced out / when it was new?
In the same vein, I likely need to replace them on both left and right cabinents; but if I only replaced one side is there likely to be any sonic variation; or adverse impact on the amp; or any effect of interest?
Is this the right thread for this post???
Oh, so many questions. . .
