CARVER TFM 15 Power Amp meter Lamps

I eventually purchased and installed some 8v, 150mA, axial, unfrosted incandescent bulbs. They worked fine unfrosted and had nice brightness so I decided to frost them and see if there was any difference. I used a Dremel sanding wheel to scuff them up a bit which worked pretty well. However, as you can see from the attached pix, there wasn't a real discernable difference that I could see. The first pic shows the clear bulbs, as received. The second is my frosted version.

I don't know how long they will last as I am not the original owner of this amp that had one good and one dead lamp when I got it and it seems the voltage and amperage of the originals is somewhat unknown. But I bought 4 lamps so at least I have two spares if these lamps expire before I do! :p

The third picture is of the buttoned up and working TFM 15.

Then again, I really have no need for this amp at the moment, so if anyone is interested let me know.

I don't have this issue - no meters on my stuff - but I was wondering if anyone considered painting the bulbs to reduce the brightness? Or, if they don't get too hot, a layer or two of clear shrink tubing?
