Working on my first cigar box guitar. Just finished fret work and im waiting for piezo pickups, volume -tone control and jack to button it up for strings.

I've been thinking of making one, maybe from scratch, cigar box and all.
Actually all I'd need is a fretting saw and some wood for the neck.
Is that oak that you're using? Curious as to the size. Did you glue on a fretboard or was it part of the neck wood?

1 1/2 x 3/4 oak. My first build so i wanted to try all the tricks. Scarf cut neck. Hand cut fret groves. There are hundreds of youtube vids and write ups. I burnt in the fret markers. No fret board cause i am cheap.

Been pickin up boxes for 50cent - $2 from estate sales.
I used a pull saw from harbor freight $8
for the frets.

Love it! That is an excellent idea. Fits nicely with the whole cigar box concept.

Finally got the pick up harness so its time to hook things up. Also picked up what will be the box for build #4. It looks like an album.

I made it from a bike spoke. Im a cyclist so i wanted to incorporate something in the build. I have been making bracelets outa spokes for about 20 years so i thought ah thats it!

No fret board, cut the frets in right on the neck.

Started on the next 3 CBG’s. This time i used a table saw to make the cuts and notches. Came out nice.

Finally had some time to work on the CBG’s. Got the necks cut and notched and 2 of the 3 boxes cut. These will be thru necks. Just got the parts in the mail.
