CBT36 Line Array Speaker System

Has anyone seen the new speaker kit that will be available from Parts-Express in the near future?

Very cool looking. I wonder how much power it will need to drive it properly?

Saw those on the cover of the PE catalog. Pretty cool for sure, but for those of us with kids there is no way those would survive.

I heard them at the Midwest Audio Fest in July. They're very impressive. They throw an even soundfield all over the room. Don Keele gave a talk about the design and how and why they work. After that he went a bit nuts and they will get stupid loud. They were being driven by a prosound amp (QSC, as I recall) but it shouldn't take all that much to get them going.

As for kids...as built they were pretty stable. I don't think they'd stand up to a toddler climbing up them but it would take more than a casual bump to knock them over.

I know nothing about the science behind these, but I remember seeing someone that was advocating a similar shape to these. I don't remember why though... Was it to prevent beaming? :scratch2:

You pad the drivers as you move farther out from center and it creates a constant bandwidth soundfield, kind of like a waveguide.

That is very cool that you were able to hear them Ray. It will be interesting to see what it takes to build a set of these babies.
