I guess Masterlu will be getting one soon if he doesn't have one already ordered!! :lmao: .....but I'll be hot on his tail. Mc projector...who'da thunk it?
Gotta have it!!![]()

What screen and projector do you use now?
Thanks,

...lol...yea man lets get it on!!!! :lmao:masterlu said:You calling me out partner? :boxing:
ron-c said:The MDLP-1 has the best Konica-minolta optics and uses the new 16 x 9 TI DLP engine. This yields a very clean dynamic picture. The built into the projector processor is also state of the art, latest Genum scaler is built in which will scale all inputs to 1080P.
The big three tube projectors have a nice picture in many ways. Their weakness is convergence, and dynamic range or the difference between brightest and darkest areas in the picture. DLP will always make a picture that 'pops' since the contrast level is higher as is peak brightness.
On a 10 ft, 122", 16 x 9 Stewart filmscreen like we used at CEDIA, I had to turn the brightness down.
Thanks,
Ron-C
ron-c said:Yes, a DLP is capable of pure black as long as the light path is properly designed through the housing and optical path. The focus and brightness level at the outer 1/3 of the picture are the same as the middle. I do not think this is possible with CRT designs.
The picture geometry on a DLP will not bend or distort regardless of brightness which also is not possible on a CRT as the voltage swings with brightness which effects the deflection of the electron beam and this will cause geometry problems.
We think you will like the MDLP-1 picture.

That's the price of the brand new house I would like to buy :scratch2:ron-c said:Runco did show a new 3 chip DLP projector at the show which looked great but it is $225,000 to give you an idea of what it takes.
I'm more of a music guy but from what I saw of the new McIntosh projector and processor at CEDIA it was the best I have seen as far as handling motion, there was ZERO break up even on complex sceenes. It really made me understand what you guys with the big HT systems get so excited about. As far as clarity on the picture it was very good but Ron was just playing regular DVDs threw a MVP861 so it would not be fair to say that the Meridian/Faroudja system with a full 1080p source had a clearer picture (which it did). The McIntosh did look better than the Meridian/Faroudja as far as motion goes though.masterlu said:I'm using a Sony VPH-G90-U w/ Faroudja DVP-5000 scaler on a motorized 10' Stewart.
How do you think the new Mac combo will stack up in comparison? Maybe unfair, as this combo was $82K
