Cheap Chinese 6P3P kit

I'll leave the original posts deleted, and you can make a fresh start. :yes:
Here is another option for affordable single-ended 6P3P amp. The MP-301 MK2 is a Single-Ended Class A mini tube amp. It supports 6P3P(6L6), 5881, KT66, EL34 tubes without any modification (Plug and Play). Built with high quality components which usually only can be seen in high end gears, such as Dale Resistors, WIMA & RIFA MKP caps. All transformers are made with Japanese Z11/M6 EI core and special wiring. The face plate, back plate, handles, power button and volume knob are made with solid alumium. Price: $260.

Can you please show me your top of the line gear? Looking for something different to try out. Maybe, I can stop spending money on transformers, and use the parts that you suggest, to build a world class amp?

I don't custom build amp. The MP-428 V2 is the top one in the current lineup. There will be a powerful high end one coming in the spring next year. I am very busy working on the new design.

Every designer has their own preference. There is no best amp in the world. I just make the sound of my amps sound right to my ear. Luckily, I got supporters during the pass three years.

Why do you spend a lot on transformers?

I have built several amps. All sound different, and good in their own way. I have yet to find cheap iron that does it all.

How you like it?

~~~
It came with cheap parts and the cathode capacitors were salvaged and showed signs of being desoldered from other equipment. I tossed all the parts it came with in the bin and used higher quality new parts. I have been tube rolling with Russian and American tubes and it sounds pretty good. I plan to mod the first tube for higher gain as my iPod will not drive the amp to full power. Maybe I will use a gain stage followed by a cathode follower into the EL34 tube. I plan to use the stock iron for now, I may upgrade to some nice EDCOR iron in the future. The enclosure is pretty sturdy and should take some heavier iron. I used an ALPS Blue Velvet pot and a different power switch and I think it made the amp look better over all. The one in the picture on the website does not have transformer covers and mine does. The stock iron looks ugly and the covers make up for it. Overall I got what I paid for, I still need to try it with more efficient speakers mine are about 88 db at the moment.
The EL34 draws a lot more filament current and plate current than 6L6, the stock iron may not be able to handle that. Monitoring the temperature of the PT is required.
The version I got is designed for EL34 tubes. I was wondering if the transformer(s) were beefy enough for KT88's I was going to email SiliconRay and find out. The line up from the manufacturer was two 6SL7's, two EL34's, and a 5U4 tube.
I'd say go for JJ KT77's...They need Less Heater than EL34's, and can be had for $77 a Quad...I've had them for Years in my ST-70 and they have Taken plenty of Abuse, and they still sound Marvelous..
I went and looked up the JJKT77 at AES and the data sheet there says the filament current is 1.4 mA (They probably meant 1.4 A). I have tried svetlana winged C EL34, 6CA7EH, JJE34L, and the stock Chinese tubes so far, what have you tried in your amp? A matched pair of KT77 are only $36 at AES, YAY.
I've had the ST-70 for 25+ Yrs. I've had EL34's in it, and Gold Lion KT77's...After hearing the 77's, I never looked back...When one of the Lions went I tried a Quad of International KT77's...They could Really blow a Tweeter on you..So, I found 2 Quads of the JJ's and have been Running Them since..They sound closer to the Lions, and they don't OverDrive the way the Internationals did...
If it was shipped on the 12th - one would think they could provide a tracking number let alone having it arrive by now.
Just hope they didn't see your username here on AK and figure that was your shipping preference - could take a bit longer if they think they have to put it on a sled and push it all they way to your door cuz Santa's sled it full.
I was hoping to see more about this kit by now :dammit:
Bah, Hum Bug! The Tracker Lied....SiliconRay says that it could take a Month....
Aye Maties...Me thinks this China size Clipper be too Larrrrge for the Canal...We'll have to take Her 'round the Horn...Battn' Down the Hatches...
