Cheap Chinese 6P3P kit

I ordered my kit on the 15th. of November. My order confromation email said I would be emailed a tracking number, never got that email.

Still waiting.

Here is another option for affordable single-ended 6P3P amp. The MP-301 MK2 is a Single-Ended Class A mini tube amp. It supports 6P3P(6L6), 5881, KT66, EL34 tubes without any modification (Plug and Play). Built with high quality components which usually only can be seen in high end gears, such as Dale Resistors, WIMA & RIFA MKP caps. All transformers are made with Japanese Z11/M6 EI core and special wiring. The face plate, back plate, handles, power button and volume knob are made with solid alumium. Price: $260.

I don't think this thread is the appropriate place for Musical Paradise to "advertise" your products. I could add more detail about my experience as a MP customer but will withhold. I have posted about my experience on this and other forums. I just feel that you have hijacked this thread, Garry.

It came with cheap parts and the cathode capacitors were salvaged and showed signs of being desoldered from other equipment. I tossed all the parts it came with in the bin and used higher quality new parts. I have been tube rolling with Russian and American tubes and it sounds pretty good. I plan to mod the first tube for higher gain as my iPod will not drive the amp to full power. Maybe I will use a gain stage followed by a cathode follower into the EL34 tube. I plan to use the stock iron for now, I may upgrade to some nice EDCOR iron in the future. The enclosure is pretty sturdy and should take some heavier iron. I used an ALPS Blue Velvet pot and a different power switch and I think it made the amp look better over all. The one in the picture on the website does not have transformer covers and mine does. The stock iron looks ugly and the covers make up for it. Overall I got what I paid for, I still need to try it with more efficient speakers mine are about 88 db at the moment.

With regard to the iPod, might it be more efficient / flexible to add an Aikido LV preamp upstream...perhaps build a combo iPod dock / preamp using something like a PodBreakout module? Then you can delete the pot on the amp instead of replacing it and use the (superior) line-out connection instead of the headphone connection on your iPod.

Just my $0.02.

Starting to look shady.
And to think iv been trying to sell my ss stuff so i could buy a couple of these kits ,I got excited at the prospect of these kits.
I have never had a opportunity to buy a new kit that i could afford,I dont have the knowledge to design and to assemble my own scratch amp so I got really happy when i saw these offered.
Well for once im glad things did not sell.
Its starting to look like a scam.

Well, on the bright side, thus far you can say that you are getting what you paid for. ;)

Why not just drop up the road to Clifton and pick up a nice Dynakit? That's my plan.

I don't like the headphone jack either and have never used it for my amps. I bought a NYKO stereo connect cable which uses the iPod dock line out connection for my amplifiers. I usually go through a pre amp and have no problems with this connection. This amp is designed for line level input and I would like to keep it that way with one stereo input only. I was thinking of removing the 5U4 rect tube it came with (replacing it with 2 1N5399 diodes) and putting in another tube stage in its place. The line up would be 6SL7 into 6SN7 then 6SN7 cathode follower into the EL34. This would happen per side. That would give me all the gain I need, I was wanting to use this amp at work and the less items to support this amp the better.

Has anyone received a Kit yet? I'm still waiting...Mine was Ordered on Dec 12....

I ordered mine on Dec 1 - I e-mailed "Jane" about shipping yesterday, here's the reply:

"we have sent your goods by China Post Surface Parcel. I'm sure the goods has been delivered. Because the freight of China Post Surface Parcel is cheap ,the delivery time is long.

you will have your goods at least two months . please be patient.

Best regards, Jane"

Cheers,
Bob

I ordered a Yaqin amp long time ago with 'surface mail'.
And it took 7 weeks for delivery.

Hope you have other toys to play with while waiting.
