I saw this at a local good will and I just had to have it. Brand new unit. It's a Ronco Classic! 1979! Even has the solution still intact. WOOHOO! my first record cleaning machine!

I couldn't find the Ginsu's. I put a POC record in and it does work, except the pads just started to disinerate. I wonder where I can find new pads. hehe.

I had one....It came with a pink liquid that you applied to the felt around the edge of the slot. I cant remember if it worked well or not, it did make vaccum noises and looked cool with the rotating record though!

Yep. Pink liquid..."ANTI-STATIC". I wonder how much people actually paid for this back when they were new. I am thinking.......2 easy payments of $9.95 + shipping, and that's not all, Order now and they will send an extra bottle of fluid + extra replacement pads.

Actually, I think this fine piece of equipment does that too.

Laugh if you want, but it was a poor copy of a Vac-O-Rec, which I believe was purchased by Discwasher.

In fact, I still use a V-O-R, primarily for final drying records after wet cleaning with solution. The V-O-R does have grounded carbon fiber bristles for anti static and fairly good vacuum. It cleans a record with very light dust quite well on its own.

Let me tell you that the record I tried, now has new track marks around the record. Although the pads fell apart completely, I would not have recommended this thing to my worst enemy, ( I wouldn't want to see vinyl in the trash). I just bought it to have a good laugh and to say, "ya, I have a RCM". I am gathering the parts to make a DIY unit posted here at AK using an Ice Cream Maker motor but also using a Stanton TT I bought a while back (DJ Turntable). The Ronco will go up on a shelf for whenever I am in a bad mood and need to be cheered up. Thank you all, I hope you had a good chuckle with this.

Huh, now that's a surprise. i do remember these things from back in the late 70's i think. A friend had one. Even then (I was like 10) it was obvious it didn't do anything.
