Checks \ Steps To Do After Recapping ?

Hi there , currently recapping my SA 8500II.
Just about to go through the power amps, and that's it with replacing parts.
What things, checks , measures etc.. should I take and make
Before plugging it in and turning on?
Any tip and help would be great.

Ok, I'll start the list and others can add to it:

- When recapping, you move a lot of wires around, make sure none of them broke in the process.
- Double and triple check values and polarity.
- Your first power-up should be on a dim bulb tester.

Check your solders. I use my DMM set to continuity to be certain there will be no surprises on power up. Check to the opposite side of the cap. Should be a shot beep as the cap charges. Move to the next solder pad in the path.

It's easier to check after each cap is replaced rather than checking after all caps are in.

Ok , so of course some problems along the way :

For now , the control amp , equalizer amp , and switch amp are done.
Power amps I didn't touch .

Tried to power the amplifier up , and the Relay didn't click in.
First to recap was the eq. Amp , when finished turned on and relay clicked. After went on and recaped the control amp , and then the switch.
What did I do wrong ?

Page 23 of SM, adjustments. VR1 adjusted full CCW before powering on. I usually do this on DBT as well so to see stability. If you do, don't forget to turn it back down CCW before you plug to wall socket.

ON dim bulb or plugged straight into the wall?

Too low of a bulb wattage will fool the amp into thinking the power isn't on.

Then there's the fuses, just handling old fuses can separate age weakened elements.

The on bulb is where it should , no change
The bulb doesn't screw anywhere , it's pushed with it's black rubber.
How the amp will know if the bulb is where it should ?
It lights , but no relay click...

You really should build one to help prevent damage if something is installed incorrectly or you have a short. Plug amp into DBT then DBT into wall, if the light bulb stays lit, you have a problem.

I already turned it on , no noise or smoke or anything , just silent and no relay click at all... If something in the eq. Amp or control amp is not correctly installed , can it prevent the relay from kicking in ? I mean , relay click is
Related to them , or only to the switch amp and power amps ?
Thanks

Maybe a photo or two would help us

I am sure about the capacitors , but not so sure about the 3 legged diodes :(

Is there only 1 fuse in the SA 8500 ii ?
I checked in mine , fuse 1.6A between pin 36 - 37 - is NOT blown.
Voltage : 0.0
Amperage : 0.0
Continuity - exists.
