Christian Music Playlist

I bought this 15+ years ago on eBay. It was very warped, totally unplayable. It's been firmly housed between other records all this time. It is now perfectly flat!

Happy Easter folks :)

Sometimes if I'm running a worship service, I'll stack "non-Christian" verses and choruses against cuts from Christian radio, to break up the chord progressions but also to try and emphasize the human element of spirituality and to normalize hurt as part of the deeper life.

Hope you're each doing well. This Easter is cool and rainy in Chicago but I am still waiting and watching for the lilies to bloom after a long winter.

Got Elvis on "Ultimate Gospel" (RCA 2004) that I listen to when/if I'm "Weary, feeling small" as Simon so well put it.

The voice, intensity and warmth of Presley in his rendition of his gospels on this LP gives me solace and time to climb out of a down mood.

I could point out how well he carried off some these songs of faith, but a review by "Elvis Australia" (May 15/2005) describes each song that the "King" recorded... so well.

A mix I put together (22 good cuts in there):

Doo wop emanates from deep within the heart. This mix is made up of doo wop which is rising from an even deeper place: from the thankful and exalting spirit. How can one not have something to sing about, when one knows the Creator and has received His tremendous gift of life? In fact, I think you will hear, as I do, that Doo Wop sounds much like the native soil of gospel music.

A Deeper Kind of Doo Wop

A Deeper Kind of Doo Wop (playlist by pustelniakr)

Please Note: This is a new development (a/o 12/19/24). If you have your ad blocker on for this site and for YouTube at the same time, the player above may only show and play the first cut in the playlist. If you turn off your ad blocker for either site, the above player will again show and play all the cuts in the playlist, ad free.

Enjoy,

Knowing the Creator certainly is a place of jubilation, certainly the joy of it. Thanks for the mix, heard a few favorites. Doo Wop, right out of choir to the hallways.

One of my all time favorite gospel tunes, Andrae' Crouch featuring Marvin Winans as lead singer. There's another version of "Let the Church say Amen" on this LP with Andrae' as lead singer. His voice isn't like it once was but I love it anyway.
