I thought when Bose announced they would no longer produce 901's the price would increase on the used market.
In my area at least that has not happened.
But then I don't live where that CL seller is located.

I’m mostly positive that his speakers are not solid wood, but are veneer over particle board like every other pair of early 901s. But, with boxes, EQ, and stands, he might be able to get close to $1K on eBay.

There are a zillion 901 speakers. But not that many complete sets with stands, eq, and original boxes. If those are truly in excellent condition, someone will pay up for them.

You can piece together a set for around $550-$600 on eBay(plus shipping). Then add something for the original boxes. I say anywhere from $700-$1000 if the right collectors bid it up. Local sale could be very different. You might have a hard time getting $400..

There's a "local" CL seller who lists about 70 pieces of gear using all caps in the titles.
I am so sick of seeing pretty much the same list of stuff relisted constantly.
Of course he renews each one every 2 or 3 days, whatever the CL rule is.
Recently he changed "location" of the items so I'll be having to take time to hide 70 more of his listings.

VW is discontinuing the beetle and you will not see used beetle prices move an inch.

Last year I sold a pair of limited edition 901 in piano black for $800, included EQ but no stands... Besides for piano black tops and bottoms they were ordinary 901s

I do live where the seller does and they’re still wacky.

If they are truly mint as he says, they are worth 1000, so 1250 is hardly optimistic. People will pay a premium for boxes and packaging where an item is in mint condition.

There's no mention in the CL ad of their internal conidtion. The buyer could end up with 18 drivers in need of refoaming or recapping needed in the EQ. Cosmetically they may be mint, but how about internally?

Recapping perhaps refoaming no, series one and two both have cloth surrounds.

Ya never know I grabbed a pair of 901-4s with EQ and chrome stands last year for $100 and sold then for $475 a few months later. It can be interesting what the right person is willing to pay for just about anything for sale.

If these are Series II they have cloth surrounds and will not require work unless the cones are damaged. The equalizer has a limited number of caps (I believe six total) and is easy to recap. The neon lamp is more of a pain if it requires replacement. I bought a set with the equalizer and stands for $125. Replaced the original tweed/burlap grill cloth, refinished the cabinets, and recapped the equalizer. Sold them it two days for 3 times what I had invested. I see no upside in these to justify the cost - except to a Bose collector. It was a fun project.
