Classic High-End Gear

There are so many great pieces of classic gear mentioned here. I would like to add the Hadley 601 stereo tube amp and the Roberson 4010 stereo solid state amp. IMHO the 601 is one of the best vintage stereo amps ever made and the 4010 was impressive enough in its time to be branded as having "moxie" by the high end audio press: Hadley 601 copy.jpg Robertson 4010 copy.jpg

I purchased these in the mid ‘80s. Still listening to them today and find it hard to believe I could find anything better (in my price range).
Musical Concepts modified Hafler DH 220 amp and DH 110 preamp. Luxman PD284 turntable, Canton Plus S and Plus C speakers.

Big Hafler fan. Had xl280 since early 80’s. Finally found an XL-600. Canton CT-2000.

What do you consider strong points of the Hafler amplifier. I was always considering finding a clean example to put into the system and give it a listen. I really mssed out on getting one when you purchased yours. There were so many choices back then.

A Marantz Model 15 that I went through a few years back remains my favorite of the older generation. It only misses the lowest lows in level but that is what a subwoofer can correct. I may examine the capacitor values in the input, feedback, etc. some day.

They have a warm powerful sound. Excellent low end. My JBL’s 12” drivers love the high dampening and current. Their build quality is very good. I’ve an
XL-280 that’s never had service. The XL-600 is such a beast. It opens up my Dynaudio 4ohm speakers
Like no other amp. I own many amps from Rotel, Adcom,Mitsubishi,Belles,ARC. The Haflers are still competitive.
