Hi,
What is the best way to clean a component with a black anodized aluminum face plate. Obviously I don't want to raise the lettering.
thanks

If you haven't already, you might do a search for faceplate cleaning. There are many threads on the subject and recommended ways for doing it ....

good luck!

I clean with windex, non ammonia version. Simple Green is good for grease and oil, but will leave a film. Windex can then remove that film.

Rubbing alcohol diluted to about 20%. That's just enough alcohol content to take off most of the grime, but not too much to bother anything worth keeping.
The only other thing I have is some cleaner made with melaleuca oil, its mighty tough on dirt, doesn't touch lettering. It does however leave behind a grease, which is nice for shine, actually looks good, but can get annoying for smooth knobs.

I use a product called Crown Spray Power. The only time I have seen it remove the lettering is on older Sherwood Tube gear with the white faceplates. My main interest is in Pioneer (SX 850, 950, 1050 etc) and have never had a problem with them.
