Coffee. Anything coffee related.

When I was in Europe, all I drank were double espressos. Not the watered down Caffè Americano. Now back home I'm still drinking double espressos and occasionally a caffè latte.

I'm wired.

Back when I first read this I thought you were wrong, I’ve always gotten Americanos and enjoyed them. But now that I’ve been making myself double espressos every day for ~6 months I’ve realized you were right. I’ve made myself a few and they really do ruin the espresso.

Did I kill this thread with my last post?

Got some nice coffees from "Smokin' Bean" Feb 7th.
The Ethiopian Harrar smelled so good I had to make a pot of it that afternoon.
I'd forgotten how nice that Bialetti stovetop pot works!

I love the aroma when the first fine liquor starts to flow!

Tried some "flavoured" coffee this day..."Kahlua". Not so good!

I used to buy the flavoured syrups in the past, vanilla and such, but have gotten away from all these enhancements.

Pretty much go for the unadulterated straight coffee now... with maybe a touch of "Baily's" ever so often.

This morning I tried a brewing hack suggested by Alton Brown of Good Eats, it's to add a pinch of salt to the coffee before brewing.

Just an eighth or quarter teaspoon, not enough to taste, really.

The idea is that the salt cuts any bitterness.....

Well my coffee tastes fine, somewhat milder than before.

Has anyone tried this?

Agreed - I stay away from all those flavoured-oil sprayed coffee.
There are so many great tasting BEANS to make coffee from, I hate the fakes.

I can always make a Toasted Almond when I am in the mood. An adult milkshake.
My mom introduced me to them long ago at a long gone place called "Sir Walter Raleigh's")
Coffee, Kahlua, Amaretto, and vanilla ice cream - whip in a blender to taste!
(In a pinch you can substitute cream - but - why would you?) ;)

Hey! Great suggestions, all!

And a great idea - been chillin' listening to Qobuz tracks based on albums I read about in the (newest) Feb MoJo magazine.
Emma is still working on tomorrow's church service, so a good time for a (small) pot of Guatemalan Antigua expresso - 2 mugs.

Hey guys, any thoughts on Java Trading Stargazer dark roast coffee?

My usual goto is Dunkin Donuts / Eight O’Clock original & Columbian, medium roast, Mr. Coffee drip, two filters...

Anybody have experience with one of these? It's a drip coffee maker from the 1960s. Well, mostly that's what it is, as the lid seems to be from the similar percolator. I haven't tried making coffee with it yet.

I have the percolator version of that brewer. That does look like the percolator lid.
Hopefully you do have the correct filter\gauge. You need to use a slightly coarser grind that won't go through the holes. Years ago coffee in grocery stores came in specific grinds for the type of coffee maker. Didn't have all the different roasts of today.

Not all "scores" are audio. I found a brand new Baratza "Encore" coffee grinder at GW for $7.37 (out the door price). It is missing the lid, but a saucer will work just fine, (I only grind enough for immediate use), so no problems. It works.

Roasted the last of my beans today. Ordered more. Prices have gone up on green beans too. Uff da.

5lb Ethiopian Sidama (washed)
5lb Ethiopian Haro Wato (natural)
2lb Yemen Hajjah
2lb Costa Rican Amistad
2lb Rwanda Red Bourbon

The stash...

I still buy locally-roasted too when I'm not in much of a mood to roast.
