My vac attachment helps with the smell, but mostly it kills the roast very quickly and cools the machine so I can roast a second batch without the wait.

CYA: Only because we live in a world where the Tide Pods are under lock and key - Do not use this adapter until the cooling cycle. I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS ADAPTER UNTIL STARTING THE COOLING CYCLE.

Bought a bag of Caribou Coffee whole bean on Saturday. Hadn't bought any for years because the roast quality had gone down from their early days.

Got a reply from Caribou on my complaint. They passed the buck.

Told me the coffee was contract roasted by JDE Peet's, so I'd have to take it up with them.

From my consumer aspect I bought a bag of coffee that is clearly branded and represented as Caribou. As dissatisfied with their response, maybe even moreso, than with the beans themself.

Another reason to roast your own beans, besides, I only roast what I need for a week. So my coffee is always fresh.

Gut check roast. I’ve had this $51/lb pound of Kona Natural since August. Today’s the day. I have little experience roasting low elevation (soft) beans.

I've tried dozens and dozens of mainly dark roast, whole beans.
Couple weeks ago, found this at Costco and was pleasantly surprised.
Different taste what I'm used too and I like. "Roasted and Packaged in the EU".

Yesterday's Costco run, found a small stash and it was on sale.
40% off, 2.2lb for $12 and change. No-brainer, so got another bag.

I've seen it around. First time trying it.
The espresso in light color and dry.
The other stuff has been really dark and oily.

Both are good, just different.

They opened a shop 5 minutes away from me. I went once when they first opened. Cappuccino in a paper cup isn’t what I go out for. I roast and manually brew 6 different ways. I go out for cappuccino because it’s a treat generally part of my weekly coffee night for 25 years running.

I 'do' specialty beans at home too.
But quick morning espresso at a little coffee bar when visiting Italy (or any other Mediterranean country for that matter..).. Love it. The experience contributes a lot to the experience for sure!

I enjoy Illy when we visit Solvang, Ca., our little Danish village near Santa Barbara where I lived as a kid. That cup in the morning is definitely part of the experience as an adult. We’ve not been back post pandemic, kinda scared about remains.
