Coffee

^^^^^^^^^^^^The problem with fluid bed roasters is they tend to taste a bit smokey. You should try Nossa Familia in Portland.
Not so. Much better flavor than the German drum roaster. If what you have tried taste smokey the roaster is not set up right . The ones I have worked on are computer controlled and do not burn the beans and cool them down faster than traditional drum roasters.

Computer controlled coffee. I suppose if one can't control his roasting machine this is the way to go. Practice makes perfect.

I certainly did not mean to imply that drum roasted coffee cannot be excellent. I have had fine drum roasted beans. It’s just that the consistency is not there and is likely due to the person doing the roasting. It requires a dedicated artisan to achieve great results every time from a drum roaster. One time I would get very good beans and the very next time , What the Hell happened! Unless they over roast everything to get consistency, then You might as well drink starbucks.

Receive this from the Mrs as a Christmas gift.....friends of hers started their own business and wanted me to try it out. Very nice coffee....they grind it too fine for me but the flavor is great!

I have also been making a concerted effort to support all veteran-related products and services, including this particular coffee. It`s quite tasty, and gets you rocking first thing in the morning !

Ordered 5 lbs of this just now. I just finished a bag of Sumatra Kerinci and was thinking of getting something from Brazil or Columbia and look what was on sale for 25% off this week! I don’t compete, but this coffee will be used for their next home roaster competition. The discount code is COMPETITOR in case anyone is interested.

there's a local coffee shop my lady and I frequent for our iced coffee or on colder days like today a hot cappuccino with a light dusting of cinnamon.

They have a little turntable, powered speakers, and a selection of records for the patrons to play, today it's the Eagles Greatest Hits.

There is a shop in Black Mountain NC that roasts and serves coffee, Dynamite Roasting Company. They also have a turntable and lots of vinyl, an amp and speakers.

I make a blend of coffees for the weekend. Real bean stuff, none of this sprayed-oil bean flavors.
2 scoops of Yuban, 3 scoops of Indonesian Sumatra, and 4 scoops of Ethiopian Harra.
Other mornings it might be regular Columbian, Kona-blend, Yuban, or something else,
but my "Blendo" is our usual treat for the weekend.
Anyway, I was getting low on Harrar so I ordered 2 2 lb bags from Smokin' Bean Roasters via Amazon, since they had a good price (4lbs for $57!)

But - I forgot to specify a grind - so I got 4 lbs "CityRoast" unground in the box today
So I whipped a few cups through a small Bialetti grinder and tossed that into a 1 lb can to keep some handy.
it smelled SO GOOD, I had to make a mid-afternoon pot to enjoy it at its freshest!
4 scoops in the stovetop Bialetti pot, and I got 3 nice cups of deep chocolatey goodness!
Yum!

Ground coffee oxidizes in 30 sec. Wait much longer before it sees water may as well throw it in the garden. A good Brazillian make a good Blender as does Monsooned Malabar. 30% max.

Yeah, I'm not worried about a 30 second deadline.
Tastes good much longer that that in my house.
We can disagree on that.
And the only thing going to the garden here is used grounds!

After many years of espresso making , my wife and I both agree , we always prefer beans roasted with a Fluid Bed type roaster. Of course we try them all , but our preference always winds up with beans roasted with a Fluid Bed roaster.
