I don't understand why people pay all that money to go to the shows when the movie industry can't even come up with new ideas.

When have they ever come up with new ideas? Movies have been being remade as long as there have been movies.
 
Hollywood remakes. I instinctively have doubt about any of them. Can't say anything about Commando. Never even heard of it actually. But I admit to being way underexposed to movies and film.

But worse more on this subject, "will be updated for a modern audience".

I've viewed Texas Chainsaw Massacre a few times. IMHO excellent story and work. I tried a few minutes of the remake. Garbage.

If that's what Hollywood thinks makes a movie entertaining then I largely fault them for the death of art we're experiencing in this country.
 
The 80s original was at least entertaining/cheesy in its awfulness, the remake will more than likely be just bad.
 
Commando was a fun B-movie to watch. Where can one get a wristwatch with a countdown setting that annunciates "Bwoink, bwoink, bwoink..." every second. Hollywood is not worth the silicone it's built on.

I don't know if any really all new ideas have come along in a long while. Pretty much any movie you can name has been either based on or is an Americanized version of a foreign film. Most of the recent non series type horror flicks are available as Asian originals, and usually better. Of course, I suppose Hollywood can say the National Lampoon and MTV movies are original.
 
They Live was a great movie with Rowdy Piper and Keith David. Loved the fight scene. Commando sucked. Are they remaking it to make it worse?
 
Well...they're remaking the howling and an american werewolf in London, the 2 greatest Werewolf films ever made imho (i'm a werewolf fan). They'll be utter screw ups. I know it. The remake of the wolfman was utterly disappointing, other than for 1 scene which was very well done. Hollywood tries to milk ideas - it's cheaper than making new ones up.

off topic - I'd love to see an adaptation of HP Lovecraft's "lurker at the threshold". That would be one way cool movie imho.
