Commando being remade!!!!

I thought the original Commando was fun to watch. I mean common, it's an Arnold Schwarzenegger film, you don't watch these films for their brilliance. :P

I don't understand why people pay all that money to go to the shows when the movie industry can't even come up with new ideas.

Ah people have been so dumbed down and conditioned to think crap is good!!

Its really sad.... They used to want BETTER and they had BETTER..... Now because of the re-programming they think crap is good!!

I liked Commando, silly, but still fun. The new one will be inferior to the original, Godfather 2 home runs don't happen often.

One of my all time favorites is the original "The Getaway" with Steve McQueen. Only bad casting in it is Ali McGraw, who was, and has always been a terrible actress, and IMHO, not all that great looking. One of the first R rated movies I got into without any games at 16. The Alec Baldwin remake was pretty bad, but Kim Basinger was a lot better looking than Ali Mcgraw ever was. The original had my favorite nutjob bad guy, Al Lettieri as "Rudy", and of course, Jack Dodson(Howard Sprague on Andy Griffith)as the vet with Sally Struthers as his wife, Dub Taylor, Roy Jenson, Richard Bright, Slim Pickins, and of course, Ben Johnson. Since the last remake was in '94, it's about due to be made a mess of again.

Just spent an hour, looking into WHY there's such a flurry over doing re-makes/re-booting/doing over movies from the past.

And it's complicated, but with the bottom line being...is it gonna work!

Seems like it's been happening over the decades, from when silent movies went to sound, and now with special effects being able to bring visual realism to the screen like never before.

Then there's the "Community Affect" whereas a group of people are in one place, enjoying "social togetherness", laughing at times, or sucking in air taking in a horror movie within a confined area...the theatre. And with the ever growing schlock on the TV screens today, it doesn't take much to offer better results based on plots/character in re-releases of the old well known offerings from the past!

So, a group of movie executives sit around the proverbial "Table" and discuss, what's been a successful take from the past, and how can we "spin" it with some of the newer "heart throbs" (well knowns) of today. If it looks like it could be a "winner"...they go for it...with fingers crossed. Nostalgia plays a key-card in this decision as well.

FWIW
