Picked up a Pioneer PL-10 needing a belt & stylus is trashed.The cart is a Empire 999II ME/X.
Anyway to check a cartridge or just a crapshoot?
Worthy & what stylus fits?

Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the left and right channels respectively - results should be close for both... (ie well balanced)

Cartridges seldom fail - it is the styli that wear out!

You have lots of stylus options at various price brackets... and various specs so you can choose one that best mates with your particular arm....

It is another sleeper cartridge - very much undervalued, and with a good stylus a great performer.

I am guessing but this is the standard needle for the 999E/X

and if that is the case then any of these could be used too:

My guess would be that on that turntable / arm the best match would be the 233-DE (http://www.turntableneedles.com/Needle-233-DE_p_970.html) - which would turn the cartridge into a 90EE-XRD. (bodies were the same, only the needle varied)

bye for now

Scavenged a belt off another table & robbed a Audio Technica ATP-2 off another shelved table.
This Pioneer sounds great!
