Those are Telefunkens. Definitely not Valvo, Siemens, or any of the other West German manufacturers. Wow. And more wow. I bet they'd sound great in my 1958 Fisher mono console.

This is the website. Type "Magnavox 196" in the search box and read to your hearts desire. Also, be sure to read the stickies at the top of the tube forum. I'm sure someone will be around very soon that has a schematic for it.
First: You want to replace the coupling capacitors, electrolytics (if the amplifier hums) and then you'll need to add binding posts for the speaker outs and maybe change some other circuitry around. You will need to add a power switch as well.
Tools you'll need:
Multimeter
Soldering iron
Solder
Wire cutters
Needle nose pliers
Basic Electrical knowledge
you can work without a schematic if youre careful and replace one part at a time. take quite a few well focused closeup pics of the underside of the amp so you have something to look back at if you get lost. you will need to replace the electrolytic filter cap and any wax-paper coupling caps it may have. you will also need to rewire the power leads going into the amp to bypass the molex plug.
have you worked on tube gear before? its not too hard but there are very high voltages in there with when its plugged in.

Google "Telefunken EL84" or even search fleabay, that will give you an idea. You won't really screw anything up unless you drop the tubes and break them
Then they're toast.
Thanks for the Schematic. Which Caps would I need to change? Just the 2 I circled or is there more? Any suggestions on which caps to get and which power switch and speaker connectors to get? Any other suggestions? I have not done much with electronics and have never worked on tube amps. What kind of preamps do people use with these amps?

Trying to identify the maker and year model of heirloom console pictured here. Fully operational, all manuals and even the punchcard, right down to the wipecloth. This was the only post featuring matching information. What the heck do we have? And I wonder how rare and/or collectoble these are? There isn't a brand name, tag or indicator as to manufacturer, the manual is as lacking in branding. ???

Welcome to AK. The amps mentioned earlier are Magnavox and the schematic is a couple posts up. Post a new thread with some pics and you'll probably get more info.
I believe there are only minor differences between the 196 series and the 197 series. It's a single-ended amp with a pair of 6BQ5 output tubes and a single 12AX7 input tube. I have one but I forget the exact model number. A very nice amp that puts out roughly 5 wpc.
