Convert a GFA555 II from single ended to balanced?

Simply because I am curious and always looking for a potential project...

Does anyone have any insights on the subject? Has anyone tried it or heard of it being done? if so what was involved?

You could add a balanced input probably easy enough, but you would have to significantly redesign the amp to have a fully balanced/differential amp through and through.

Which is it you're really after?

That said, if you run the amp bridged mono I believe you end up with effectively a balanced/differential amp, and perhaps could find a way to drive that from a balanced input rather than the amp's internal phase splitting/inverting circuits.

You can use a Balanced to unbalanced transformer like this they are 30$.

But if you think this will improve the sound in some I have bad news for you.

And further yet, I think with just a balanced source, feeding (+) from output to one input of the amp, say to right channel, and (-) to the other amp input (left), you would be operating the amp as essentially balanced/differential but it would then be a monoblock with the right channel amp output being (+) to speaker (+) and left channel amp (+) going to speaker (-).
