Craigslist, Seattle smattering ...

I'd be up for those! Wonder if he ships?! :scratch2:

Call and find out, it's only 8:50. If not, maybe Dingus would be willing to help out. I'd help out for the AK Pony Express, but I rather dislike having to pack up large things for shipping.

i've got my hands full at the moment. my first packing job with a pair of sand filled Wharfedale W60-D's. maybe after i get these out, and if the results are good, i'll be up for some more shipping projects.

How does this AK pony express thing work anyways? I just happen to live within a few miles of this guy...

There's a sub-forum down below containing requests for it. Basically, it's AK members who are willing to physically transport items for other members. It's theoretically possible to link up several volunteer members and move something such as a pair of speakers cross country.

look what i missed today

got an email back from the seller saying i was 4th in line, and he would advise. i thanked him kindly and wrote them off.

Yeah, I was second in line by less than a minute, supposedly. Not at all happy at the prospects of having been beaten out by an eBayer. Sure, it might actually be an audio enthusiast who was first to them ... and maybe Elvis is picking them up this evening.

Btw, they were actually listed as $30 each.

all is not lost, the same seller has, the ad is still up, a pair of "Advent AR 3's" for the same $30.

Yeah, he tried to sell me those instead, those and the "big green 3-ways." I quite like my Tannoys and would've loved another pair to play with. I guess it just so frustrates me because I'm in it for the hobby, but I keep missing out on the goodies to those who are in it for the money. Any bets how long before the drivers from these turn up on the 'Bay or elsewhere for at at least $1500? :gigglemad

well, $30 isnt a bad price the Advent's - they look like the Utility's without an attenuator switch.

the Tannoys will be listed on the bay as soon as they get to their new home.

edit: the light finally came on, i see now that those are Advent 3's.

once in a while craigs does pan out. just picked up this nice little Yamaha R-700 receiver. she'll be pulling duty at work, driving a pair of Advent Utility's. needs to be cleaned up but no other issues. not too shabby for $30.

here's a deal for you. guess he decided to sweeten the deal.

Large Advents with new foam - $50 and HPM 100's - $200 or $225 for both pairs.

I should have figured this would find its way to AK. These are my speakers for sale. I didn't post them here on the AK classsifieds, because I didn't want to deal with shipping these boxes, and because some of you know what crazy deals I scored these with. :D I'm trying to raise the funds for the cost of Merrylander's overhaul of my Yamaha CR-2020, which I just packed off to UPS yesterday. $63 one-way from Seattle to Maryland :yikes: I never did acquire a liking to the sound of the HPM-100s, and I prefer my KLH 17s to the Advents, so I'm selling those too. I still have a house full of early '80s Boston Acoustics as well. Besides getting the money for Rob to repair my receiver, I will now have space to put the new deals waiting to come my way at the local thrifts. If anyone is interested in these locally, or wants to handle the shipping of them, send me a PM.

Steve

I was wondering if those were yours. So, you never could get the HF to sound good to you either, eh? A shame, there's some things the HPM-100s do well, but that too hot upper end just ruins it. Well, at least you now know what sound you don't like -- Advents are upwards of 12 dB hot in the upper midrange/lower treble and the HPM-100s are 14 dB such while the KLHs are much more tame.

Look forward to seeing pictures and hearing a report back on your Merrylander overhaul.
