She really needs to be reigned in a bit before she seriously hurts herself or someone else. Her demeanor and public comments just make her an inviting target for her competitors. There are probably more 180mph "courtesy bumps" headed her way.
She got all those sponsor logos on tv, didn't she? Mission accomplished.
And, even though she took herself out of the race she sent the message that she's not going to let other drivers shove her around the track. Her crew chief told her: "If you're going to wreck other cars, learn how to do it so you don't wreck yourself at the same time." Not that he wasn't justifiably pissed at her, he was.
I'm not a huge fan by any means, but it's been interesting to watch her develop. She's been driving open wheel cars at 200+ mph for years and led the Indy 500, so it's ridiculous to imply she can't drive. But, NASCAR is a whole 'nuther thing. In open wheel racing, if you try to trade paint and touch tires at 225 mph, both drivers could die. When she got started in NASCAR, she was way too timid in the pack because she wasn't comfortable bumping her way through traffic, and consequently all she did was move backwards from her starting position. She's not moving backwards any more.
And, quite honestly, I think she might see a little more room around her car if other drivers think that she'll try to get rough, and they're afraid she doesn't know what the hell she's doing. As soon as she does a nice, clean, professional job of putting another car or two into the wall, things will change.
Next few races should be fun to watch. :yes:

I remember a certain male driver who enjoyed a reputation for fender-banging, and for 'moving' other drivers outta his way when he decided to make a move. (Of course, it finally caught up with him at Daytona one spring.)
Most drivers have cut their NASCAR teeth on the smallish back-water tracks, well outta the glare of the lime-light. Miss P is doing it under a media circus every time she takes the track, so I'm inclinded to cut her some slack during her learning processes.
What about the 20-plus pile-up at Talla two weeks ago? The level of comments issued following T. S's . . "ahem" 'block' have basically equalled the old "It's just racin'" comments of yore.

She put millions of sponsor dollars into Tony Stewart's and Tommy Baldwin's pockets. That mission was accomplished. I don't think she's doing the sponsors themselves any favors.
She sent the message that she's a lunatic, like Kyle Busch, but without the talent.
I didn't hear that. Cassill made a joke about that and Zipadelli told her that "she knows better." Bumping is one thing but what she did yesterday was just bullshit.
She never did anything great in Indy and, despite having great cars and crew in the Nationwide series, she hasn't managed a single top 5 finish.
Many drivers have come from open wheel competition into the Busch and Cup series and won races in their first year.
The bottom line is that she's just not very good. I don't believe she ever will be.
Agree 100%. Considering she's doing her apprenticeship with the best in the world, she gets props from me for staying in there.
I was imagining how the post-crash interview might have gone a little better:
Track-side reporter: "What happened out there, Danica?"
Danica: (Big smile ON) "Boy, did I look pathetic out there or what? There's no question, I need a lot more practice putting people into the wall!" (Smile OFF) "So, keep shoving me around out there, and I'm going to get all the practice I need."
And then turn around and walk away.

False. We already know the answer. Drivers do not get to this stage without huge talent. To think otherwise is simply ridiculous.

Sure they do.
But I'm only saying she isn't very good compared to the competition at this level. Her driving skill does not merit the rides she's getting handed to her, not even close.

Exactly. It appears that, with many posters in this thread, along with the WWF/midway carnie/revival tent traveling show that is NASCAR, that Tony Stewarts genitalia gets him a hall pass for wanton destruction of his, and others racing equipment. This thread is a hoot to read.
Danica Patrick is new to a form of motorsport that rewards the substitution of deliberate carnage and recklessness for ability and car control. In the real world of motor racing, if you're that boneheaded, you're immediately penalized for committing avoidable contact, and repeat offenses quickly put you on the outside of the fence looking in. She is new at, and just learning to act like a tobacco chewing, knuckledragging, rube in a demo derby car, and, not at all new to driving fast and driving well. Those of you that think she won't get quite good at walling other drivers if she wants to, well, hide and watch. She has the time, and she can afford it. Get over it.

How many purely intentional wrecks should she be allowed to cause before someone pulls the plug on her? She just doesn't get it. Until yesterday I was still hoping that she would get her act together. Now I hope she retires before she kills someone.
