Crash Patrick wrecks herself crashing Landon Cassill

I'm not misogynistic towards women drivers, I just think Danica gets way more press than her talent warrants. There are (and have been) several solid female drivers in NHRA, I cheer for every one of them.

That would make her a smart local girl (though this may be a contractual restriction).

Though they race in different disciplines of motorsport, there are many parallels with her and Patrick, indeed all young, aspiring racers. She cut her teeth on grassroots level racing, and, through her toughness and ability she has take wins, and clawed her way into a bigger spotlight. Just like the boys and young men she has been racing (and beating), she's competing for corporate sponsors to help her continue to pursue her dream of being a World Champion. The sad part of this for almost all that try to scale these heights, she may well eventually find herself swimming among the apex predator sharks in the sport, trying to clear hurdles that few ever even get to take a run at. The reason the deep pocketed sponsors invest in riders/drivers is for the opportunity to exploit their abilities and images at the highest levels possible, on the biggest stages. It takes an incredible amount of passion, dedication and ability to even reach these heights, even if it is to eventually find ones self outgunned by those at the pinnacle. Young men that approach or reach these heights and falter are not subjected to the same ridicule and harassment that the females that are doing the very same things suffer, having traveled the same difficult roads to get there, and faced even more adversity along the way due to their gender. It is the sponsor/advertising/promotional machine that is sensationalizing them, not themselves. They're just racing because it is their passion, and their chosen life's work, and, it's absurd and contemptible that they are ridiculed for how they are marketed, when they are only striving to be the best, most accomplished racer they can be.
 
No one here seems to be expressing outrage about Jeff "Crash" Gordon, many time champ that walled himself trying to retaliate against another driver, then soon thereafter created havoc by deliberately crashing his car, that of the driver he was having the initial spat with, along with a number of other ones. His apparent lack of "skill" at trashing other cars also had potentially serious impact on their championship playoff.

He gets a hall pass because he's not a girl? :lmao:

Do you know how hard it is to get and keep a big dollar sponsor in the highest level of motorsports?Great drivers,and great teams have trouble getting someone to foot the bill for entire season of very costly races.Danica Patrick expresses interest in moving to nascar,with her very deep pocketed sponsor very willing to come along for the ride,and Nascar,understandably jumps at the opportunity.
Have you seen the inane promotions that male drivers are expected to perform for their mealticket?No different for Danica,except that sometimes they involve looking sexy for the camera.Personally,if they paid me that well to do what I love for a living,Id let them put my big ol mug on a box of Kotex.
And remember,shes making the transition from open wheel racing to stock cars.Ask indy car champ and f1 race winner Juan Pablo Montoya how easy it has been for him.And all the open wheeled drivers who failed in his wake.

Say what? I Imagine there's going to be quite a lot of outrage over Gordon's stunt. It's been running steadily on the crawl on the bottom of the TV screen all evening, I'll wager the outrage will manifest itself in the form of fines and/or points penalties.

I see Danica did finish 15th, a strong showing for her.

Good point! F1 is the highest level of Motorsport, since the modern F1 championship has existed - since 1950 - there have been a grand total of two female drivers who have qualified for a race. Only one of those ever scored any points, and that was 1/2 of a single point. So don't count out the ability of female drivers at the highest level.

The guy caused the destruction of a million bucks worth of racing equipment, endangered the life and limb of many, seriously altered the series championship standings (and attendant prize money), narrowly missed costing a departing manufacturer (Dodge) their apparent lock on the title, and there is actually a question as to whether or not he should be allowed to compete next week? Seriously? What a joke the NASCAR sanctioning body is.
 
He might not be able to, I haven't paid enough attention to the situation to know what NASCAR's position will be. Was the dollar amount of Gordon's stunt, or the amount of lives put at risk, greater than when Danica pulled it? Was she allowed to race the next week?

Ah, but the lone (male) Black F1 driver has not only a World Championship under his belt, but has scored more points than his female F1 counterparts combined at about a 1775:1 ratio.

Coincidence? I think not.

In other female racing news, Courtney Force was runner up in the season finale NHRA race this weekend. She even won a funny car race in this, her rookie season, and finished 5th in total points, and didn't wreck anybody (except Ron Capps' championship hopes). In other Black racing news, Antron Brown became the first Black professional drag racing champion at the same event.
 
Getting us back away from the edge of the abyss, it's going to be very, very interesting to see what happens with:

a. Jeff Gordon
b. Bowyer's pit crew.

I would expect Gordon's total award to be pretty even with Kyle Busch's suspension. As far as Bowyer's pit crew, that's gonna be interesting, because it's pretty much uncharted territory.
 
Nascar is always reluctant to penalize drivers for their actions during a green flag but Gordon had been black flagged. I hope they throw the book at him.

Aren't those the ones that have "judges" that will "penalize" you if you "err" during a race? Yeah, that's brutal!!

I've seen tougher driving on the Bay Area freeways by half blind folks who can barely see over the steering wheel of their mini-van.
