Mikes off! No recording!
I have pioneer cs-99s.:D:D:D How do the dynaco a25's compare to them? Everyone here seems to like them, im considering getting a pair.

I don't own either pair, and I have not heard the CS-99's. However, I HAVE heard the Dynaco's regularly, and they are a solid little speaker. Big sound for their size, nice rich midrange, highs are balanced, good bass for their size.

Lots of guys are actively seeking these at a decent price. Hope you find some! :thmbsp: They go pretty high on eBay most of the time. I'm holding out for a yardsale find.

I may not have any for a long time...

Having owned both CS-88A's and Dynaco A-25's and hearing several specimen of CS-99, I would say it would really depend on your tastes.

The A-25 is going to be a little mellower and smoother, but not as large.

There will also be a difference in tone, with the CS-99's being a little dryer sounding (more “studio monitor” like), and the A-25's more on the sweet side (more “classic hi-fi” like).

Bass will be about the same at lower to medium listening levels, but the larger woofer in the Pioneers will be a definite advantage at higher levels (though one would think the reverse would be true). The A-25 will probably handle more power before audible distortion sets in due to the proportionately longer excursion of the cone.

For a mellow, house filling sound, you will likely prefer the A-25’s. For louder rock our country, the CS-99’s will have the edge.

I have owned the CS77's, and still do, CS88's and A-25's. The A-25's are in regular use while the 77's are in storage. I like the Pioneers but as I said they are not in use. Definately get some Dynacos you won't regret it.

They aren't in the same league. One is accurate, the other, well.. it's not.

Dynaco's are the good..

Now if you want a boomy party speaker.. Pioneer fits that bill.

Do you have the CS 99 or CS-99a's. I have the CS 99a and would give them a high recommendation, I have heard the CS 99 are not as proficient. I also have the Dynaco A-50 which I enjoy greatly. As stated above, any comparison would not be fair since they are both good speakers in there own way.

I have the 99's not the a's. i like them a lot.
Have you ever heard of or seen Fisher studio standard Ds-826's? The insides looked real cool, and they were big, but the sound, well, it was not great.:thumbsdn: I used to have them.
