The only thing I liked about his 'pimping' of the 1250 was the replacement of the wood end caps on the sides of the front panel with polished aluminum. Other than that, it was a ghastly piece of work.
I've restored countless 1250's, and never changed these out...not even on my own unit.

I would keep them stock too (if I owned a 1250) but if you were "pimping out" one it seems like it would be something to at LEAST consider... :scratch2:

Why pimp something that is already pimp ... it's like the Reverend Don Juan trying to tell Frank Sinatra what to wear to look cool .... Keep it original.

If you had one with smashed-up end boards that needed replacing, and serious rust spots on the chassis and transformer cover so they would need to be stripped first, etc... then I would say "Sure, as long as you are replacing so much, might as well 'pimp' it!" :yes: But if you have a decent stock one to begin with, then I'd prefer a restoration.
I feel the same way about old cars. Spruce up that incomplete, badly rusted hulk if you want, but don't rat-rod an otherwise perfectly restorable classic! :nono:

I totally agree unless it's a Foose designed car .... His designs kind of go against my beliefs (like slamming a car a few inches off the ground) but damn are they nice looking cars. So I guess tastefully done pimping can have desirable results but sticking a bunch of stickers on it doesn't really qualify in my books.
