Good point, haha. But since only a few flea-powered tube watts will be passing through it, I sorta doubt it would blow. But I don't know enough to know that for sure.

It sucks though when you only need one part and shipping is going to cost as much or more than the part.

No kidding. I ordered a sixties classical record recently that was only $2.47 or something, but then I saw the shipping was 25 bucks! Luckily I was able to cancel it.

It doesn't hurt to put some glue over the newly soldered stub. Gives it stability.

I have never had great luck doing this.Too many times, it ruined the cap (either open circuit, or wrong value, or shorted).

If you do- use stranded (flexible) wire. Solid core wire is stiff, and bending it is likely to break it off again. Just glue the cap body down, to secure it, too.

A Dayton precision is about $6.50. A Solen maybe a dollar more. Replace it.

Right you probably are. I think I was so delighted with myself for finding the right value in the bottom of a junk drawer that I sorta lost sight of common sense.

I use my roach clip for that same function.
