DCM Timeframe 2000's

i was lucky to hear them at the CES back in '87 where they premiered. Steve E was very excited about his new line which had many different models of speakers in it by that time (he had one of the largest rooms at the show for a small speaker manufacturer). The 2000s were just fantastic. t-line bass loading, huge stable soundstage...well you'll see! (at the show i believe he was driving them with one of bob carver's new amps at that time. many manufacturers were using the carver amps there).

there were so many great and innovative soeakers introduced at that show....the carver Amazings, the big polk SDAs the huge TDL transmission lines.

wish i could have bought them ALL!

Yea these are wrapped in cloth/sock like so you cannot remove any grills. Thick wood on the rear panel with lots of screws to access the internals. I did look with a flash light very good and they are in immaculate shape. These things were babied for sure.
 
Welcome again Mike - told ya it would be best to start a new thread. I'm sure you will get more suggestions for a suitable amp. Not having owned a pair, I'm not much help. I did however hear some different models of DCM's and was impressed each time.
Congrats on that huge score.

Thx everyone lol. That makes me feel good. This is a very cool site and some great people too. I can tell I will be on here often. I just started a new thread with some speakers I landed tonight. They are custom made from the 60's. You can check out the thread and my 1 picture so far. They look pretty cool. Now I just need to start playing with them and see if they are keepers or some flippers for some cash!! They are made well but strange. i will be adding more pics to that thread when I get a chance. Total between both speakers = 39 speakers!! They could be hot or they may just be dead weight too lol. We will see...

Pretty sure someone else posted here in late 2009 about getting a pair of these. They were a pair that were for sale in the Richmond, Va. area at the time. I remember because I called and talked to the seller, then decided I didn't want to drive that far....

EDIT: Oh.... and I'm forgetting my manners. Congrats to the OP for a really nice/rare find !!

spindatwax, realize that many of us here have 10, 15, even more pair of speakers, and yet YOU have scored a mythical pair that honestly, should pretty much end your search, with the right front end.

I have a line on some smaller timeframes, and have read countless write-ups on them, how good they are. I'd imagine you have the makings of a lifetime keeper set. Great scroe.

Some info from Steve....

The TF-2000 was the top of line Time Frame, not custom, just very good, in the original TF line. Higher impedance, appropriate for big monobloc amplifiers 200+ watts per channel into 8 ohms. I doubt that anybody burned out one of these. Drivers are symmetrically arranged in a vertical array.
When coaxial driver format was developed, the Time frame line was "downgraded" at request of dealers for a more affordably priced line of Time Frame format speakers. The TF-10 became the "hugest", but not the best ever. TF-2000 being higher impedance realy "needed" at least 200 watts per channel to get the full dynamic range the speaker was capable of, thus did not "sell" enough to justify the floor space and inventory holding cost required for the occasional sale.

I still kick myself for not being able to drive the 4 hours to get a very affordable pair of TF-600s.
