DCM Timeframe 2000's

PHP:
Hi I have 4 TF1000s for 20+ years running Fosgate Five surround. Haven't found a better sound for my ears so far without laying out major dough and compromising decor and space. Upgraded to 200watt Rotel amp brings them to a whole new level of detail and force. Several years back my wife helped restitch new socks in creamy beige. They look amazing.

Can you find the Dreps Crone Maze?

Sure would love to hear a pair of TF2000s some day!

Welcome to the Forum. Please post a pic if you can. Years ago I worked in the audio field and remember selling the 500, 700, 1000 and also a single pair of 2000 DCMs. They were nice.

I posted a pic. Here's a few more - have a look

Welcome jarchila! Those 1000's look amazing! It gives me a new option for re-covering my 600's.

I know this is slightly older thread, but I just picked up a pair of TF2000's myself for $50...

I cut off the tattered sock (it was not salvageable) and the drivers were not rotted out, so that good.

I can't get any significant bass output from these though. The drivers move, but it's almost as if the 6" mids are overextending and the 8" woofers are hardly moving, or just not keeping up... All of the drivers have movement.

Next step is to check the internal wiring and crossovers.

I want to clean them up and rebuild them, but I'd like to figure out the bass problem first.

I currently run small speakers without a sub, so my low end expectations are not unreasonable I don't think.

Anyways, I was skeptical when I picked them up, but now I'm beginning to realize exactly what I found. I'd like to hear their potential!

20 bucks?

For TF-2000's??

Holy shyte.

Pics or it didn't happen. Oh, and while I hate you (snicker, snicker), welcome to AK!!

edit - double check your polarity, make sure things aren't out of phase.

Yeah no joke. They are beat up but the drivers look good once I dusted them off.

I stood there on my phone for a good 10 minutes making sure what I was seeing was the same as I was reading about.

TF-2000, they are about 60" tall and 2ft wide.
Serials are 421 and 422 (or 441 and 442, can't check than while at work)

8" W
6" M
T
6"M
8"W

dual ports on the front.

I'll get some pics later after work.
The guy I got them from had them for a year or two he said. He bought them with a rack of amps and equipment in an all or nothing deal and didn't want them. Didn't seem to know what they were either. 'those old things' sort of attitude.

I'll get some photos and start my own thread, but I was hoping some of the posters on this one would get the email notification and chime in.

thanks!!

Welcome to the Forum! The woofers of the TF-2000 may have a limited excursion due to their being a ported design which would tend to limit cone travel. Having said that, I worked in a place that sold them years ago. Their bass, while being "ample", could never be described as truly prodigious in output or extremely profound in depth. Nice speakers though.

krickey, great gods man! Those are Hu-mangos!Funny,here I am, selling my completely restored 700s and you go and post these.More nerve than a bum tooth!Congrats!

gotcha. I would not even describe it as close to ample at this point. Nothing of any substance below 80hz, although the drivers are 'moving'.
I'll see what I can figure out and start a new thread with photos and everything.

Anyways, it's fruitless until I can get them up to my place on my own equipment that I am more familiar with. Could be any number of issues right now. I'll check in again soon.

Like to ad that when i rebuilt my 700's,the tweets were toasty,so I put in Seas Prestige 19TD Fo8.Really nice upgrade-4000 to 20,000.very smooth, and a direct swap.even look the same.A common thing for the Carboneau woofer is that it becomes unglued from the basket frame. The glue they used was chitty. You will need to get them aligned ,and set.Cost me $80,and now I have bass. The TF500s have good bass.Anyways i run a sub with mine.
