No need to use the weight with the original headshell.

Using the weight plate when not needed requires that the tone arm balance weight will need to be moved back to compensate. That can also cause issues.

It allows you to add mass to the arm if the resonance is not in the sweet range. I have been testing the HIFI news test record against my 40 year old factory test records and it's resonance test is comparing well with the old standbys.

No reason to guess anymore, or try to understand some baffling chart. Play the record and observe....and listen to the warble.

Other tracks that are holding up well are the antiskate using a computer based oscilloscope and the tracking tests at three different sections of the record. The crosstalk test is not working out so well, so will be trying a different consumer available record when it arrives next week.
