Denon DP-300F TT? Thoughts?

I like the switchable amp. It does give you more flexibility in choosing an amplifier. These days many of the really nice amps don't have phono inputs, unfortunately, such as Cambridge Audio, NAD and Creek. I'm rooting for you, John!

I think it's a pretty reasonable table for a new non-us-made table. I do think, however, for the little extra money the 500M is a better unit. The 300 comes with a cartridge mounted, and an on-board pre-amp so your system doesn't need a phono section. The 500 doesn't come with a cart therefore you can install the right one for your system and pick out a nice phono pre-amp. It all depends on your budget. You get what you pay for!

Thanks, I have a few new carts here that I can replace it with if needed. If you use the built in pre-amp, what input would you use, AUX? My Amps have phono sections and inputs, just asking.

Thanks for your input.

Aux makes sense. Actually pretty much any input will work, except (obviously) phono.:thmbsp:

If you use the built-in amplifier, you would hook into any line level-in jack, such as AUX or TAPE. The phono input is designed for a low level signal from the cartridge and if you used the built-in amp to feed that jack, the signal would become distorted from over amplification.

I'm beginning to wonder if some of the complaints we hear about poor sound from turntables with built-in amplifiers are from folks who are using them to feed phono jacks.:scratch2:

Thank you for your replies!

You may be right about the poor sound and people complaints.

My Denon will arrive by FedEx on the 21st, Friday!

Thanks,

Cool! Friday! That's great. I'm having a tooth pulled on Friday, I'd MUCH rather be opening up a package with a turntable in it!:D

Ouch! the last time I had a tooth pulled, it came out so fast I did not feel a thing. A lot of Novacaine! But when the stuff wears off, ouch!

You will be fine..

Thanks,

HI, I saw this TT online and I was wondering what are the thoughts on it.

Belt drive full-auto built in Pre-amp if needed, has MM cartridge.:scratch2:

Any info ?

GREAT TABLE!

I got one of these when they first came out...had an AT12Sa mounted and was VERY impressed. Obviously, if you bypass the built in phono stage to something better, it is a VERY capable table for sure! The automation is kinda nice to...clunky action like the old dual tables, but fun non-the-less :-)

There is now another thread that jleon now has that show pictures of his Denon TT along with a description of how it works for him. He's very happy with it and it's a very interesting thread.
