Just picked up a Denon PMA 757, amazing clean clear sound, tons of power.
Anyone out there have one of these beasts?
Any opinions?

I had one some time ago. Sold it however. Kind of wish I hadn't but I really didn't have a use for it. Mine had a torodial transformer, not sure if they all did. I thought it was a nice amplifier and sounded more than the 60wpc that I was told it was.

I have a PMA920. Big old optical class A amp, torriodal transformer, nice features and sound. Currently out of my system since I just was given my first tube amp.

I also am running a PMA-757 in my main system. Toroidal transformer, puts out a great sound, plenty of power for my needs, run it into a pair of Polk Monitor 7A's. In the bedroom system I run its baby brother the PMA-737 60WPC running into a pair of KLH 17's. To round out the trio I run a DRA-685 100WPC as the video unit running into stacked New Large Advents. Now all I need is a PMA-777.

Denon makes some great stuff. I actually have more Denon gear than any other in use or waiting in the wings.

DP-59L turntable with DL302 MkII cartridge
DVD-2910 universal player, SACd and HDCd capable
DVD-2200 universal player backup
DR-M22 cassette deck in garage
POA-2200 Power amp as my solid state powerhouse backup
PMA-300V (????) 55 wpc integrated amplifier backup w/ MC phono stage

Congrats on picking up a real nice amp. I saw a 737 at a garage sale about a year ago. It was in pretty rough shape and the guy wanted too much money. One of these days I'll find one for my collection.

I almost bought one on ebay a little while ago, thought it looked very nice. I ended up finding this beast locally instead.

At the risk of giving these amps the respect they deserve, I just wanted to say I'm very impressed by the 757 I just received. Clear and neutral - I love this thing. I couldn't sell my Spica's since everyone who came to audition them would bring their underpowered amps. This Denon really opened them up, sounding more modern and neutral than some other vintage amps I've had, which I think I prefer. Tons of headroom!

Does anyone know the differences between the PMA-737, 757, 777 (1982?) the PMA-730, 750, 770 (1981) and the PMA-740, 760 (1983) series?

Audio database (http://audio-database.com/DENON-COLUMBIA/amp/index.html) only has information on the latter two series. The 7X7's look very similar to the 740 and 760, except that the 7X7 series go something like 60 to 100 wpc while the 740 and 760 are 105 and 125 wpc @ 8 ohms, respectively.
