My last two scores were found on CL in hidden ads. Mac tube gear and rather large JBL monitors. The hard search usually pays off better than the general electronics section.

How have you been liking your L300's?

I've been thinking about taking my L200's in an L300 direction lately.

I saw these and sent an email, actually two asking if I could meet with him or talk on the phone when he is available.

Honestly it's wishful thinking as I have contended with many locals out here over deals and scores. It's a hard market in Colorado as the mid modern and hifi craze feels like it is the worst here. TMR (The Music Room) is based out of Broomfield and buys/sells hi end audio pieces.

So I would like to think that I could snag them, but I'm also realistic. I've seen two really amazing deals lately on CL but sometimes I think I should stop torturing myself with the look. I have some really nice gear and I should be happy. But you all know how it is where we just want to try the next new piece and see if we want to keep or let go.

So I'm curious to see what happens, it would be nice but like every other one says it's going to be a flood on his email.

Well... I never got a response either and I offered $600... So, lots of speculation on this one. I have also had to contend with TMR, and his "satelite" shoppers.

I'm remote in Alaska so no chance of auditioning anything within a thousand miles. . Quite a bit of work getting my L200's up to that next level. I have the 077's installed, now would need the longer horns and different woofers . Then increase the cab's cubic feet a little, to match the L300's, then build new crossovers, whew! But if I do all that it should put out the performance of the L300. Of course they still will look like an L200 but I like the look. Someday..

Yeah, I tossed out 500 just to see if I could get a call. I then emailed again and said if he could call we would work out a deal. I was willing to spend more but didn't want to get to crazy being that I didn't know the condition and Christmas is coming up...

I would like my wife not to kill me lol..

What I have seen happen a couple of times:

Maybe seller really didn't know... then a bunch of crazy offers appear. The seller kills the ad, then a week or two later, it gets relisted at double ebay price. Then after they sit on CL for a couple months, they start dropping the price. I just wish I could get a response to start a real dialogue.... Oh well, not like I need more speakers anyway... you know the story. It is just like the girls you had a chance with when you were younger, you remember the ones you didn't more than the ones you did.

Lol, hah yeah I have to agree with that.

Honestly I do better when I can talk, I don't want to write out a small book on negotiations and the art of making the deal. I was hoping that the interest of, call me we can work out a price would be enough. Especially since it's not like there isn't a chance I couldn't off more if need be.

I would have liked to have them simply for the fact I never had a set before. I've had the L200's and they were awesome but I had to let them go.

I will have the Heathkit's to keep me going heh

The L300 was my gold-ring speaker for most of my life. I still have the original brochure from my local dealer from back when I was in high-school. I always promised that I'd have a pair as a house-warming gift to myself. Still no new house (though we're much closer) but I've owned my Kenrick 4345 black-ash-baffle clones now for eight-years and they cost me less than a good set of L300s go for now. Their sound makes my eyes tear-up. I could never go back to the L300—even though the WAF of mine may be lower! Or not . . .

I hope someone who will keep and enjoy them actually got them, if they ever really existed at all.

Colorado sure likes its JBLs. almost 3X more CL posts for them on Denver CL than Detroit CL.

Yeah the L300 value around here is higher. I just didn't want to make an offer sight unseen past the pics on the net vs real life. I've done that before and the guy had pulled the drivers and put in cheap rat shack ones to sell me. I told him that was not the ad and he wanted to argue. So I'm a little more gun shy in some respects. The follow up email said I would work out a price with him but call me either way.

Guess he got a deal so good the call was not important lol. Ohh well.
