Are you kidding, we've been outraged at the kids behavior, outraged at people that think kids have done this before, relieaved that she is getting a postive outcome, dicussed violence statistics in the US, discussed the bias of those statistics and outliers, discussed how indiegogo works, and now we are discussing how race plays into this already overwith issue.

I think we are still missing some major points, namely how this hotbed issue effects Greeces economic crisis and wether or not this supports the theory that Stanley Kubrick faked the moon landing.

Well done. :thmbsp: I was going to ask if he was new to AK, but that would have seemed pretty lame, comparatively.

FWIW IMHO if Russia landed on the moon first our gov't would be whole hog behind the conspiracy theory.

I think that if one accepts that Kubrick faked the moon landing, one should also accept that man has both been to jupiter and entered a stargate. We should all recognize the sacrifice of astronaut Bowman. (there, now we have covered that topic!)


Anyway, I wonder what the families reaction is, it said she is a grandmother of eight! i'm hoping that she has enough foresight to carefully manage it all, at this amount it can get ugly fast, sadly.

About sixty years ago my grandfather bought a small stone house on six rocky acres of Appalachian hillside. The house is over 200 years old and not much to speak of.

Thing is, it is within commuting distance of New York city and now worth about the same amount of money that the bus monitor received. The amount of infighting that house has created between the heirs is almost unpalatable. It certainly destroyed a relationship between two brothers.

If a family is not used to that kind of wealth then it can destroy them.

Can't say I blame her but, time heals all wounds. I don't think it's about the money...yet...but I'll bet it will be very soon. I'm sure the media is looking for any chink in Karen's armour at this point. Hopefully (for her and her family) this story fades as quickly as it bloomed.

In regards to the fine folks here saying, "...it has always been like this..." I couldn't diasgree more. I was no Angel when I was a kid, but I always knew where to draw the line, I don't recall ever hearing of this sort of behavior.

The fault falls squarely on the lack of parental guidance in today's culture, and that includes the sensationalism of social media. IMO, of course...

This is a long thread, I haven't read all if it, but I do see a number of comments saying this is nothing new, or that this is normal.

I was born in '61, and I can promise you, nothing like this occurred that I ever saw.

Wish i could find a pack of kids to pick on me so I can post it on youtube... I can deal with them and I'd like to be rich..

Ya know.. if you would have taken those kids, and put them one on one with that lady, they would each probably be very respectful to her... but you get a pack of kids together, one dare, and they are all jumping in on the pile..

It's not just kids.. it's human nature.. we're flock, or herd animals, and we all just want to go with the flow no matter how good or bad it turns out in the end...

Kinda makes free thinking hard to do when you got your buddies egging you on..

I recently lost about 65 lbs or more(still working on it)and believe me,adults,even seniors are just as bad,if not worse.Obesity is a great destroyer of humanity and common decency,IMHO.I had teens be much more respectful of me,even in larger social settings than many adults and seniors.
If given an excuse,ALL people can be assholes.
