DISCO anyone?

goodolpg

Just an old fart trying to help.
I LOVE disco music.
There, I said it.
I grew up and was of legal drinking age during the disco era.
Spent many nights at the local "disco" and have fond memories of that era.
I still play disco music frequently at home.
Anyone else or is it just me?

I turned 21 in 1976 so we are probably about the same age. I remember the disco era well, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't taken in by some of it, but I usually went to places where live bands were playing rock music. It's funny you mention this because just last night I happened to watch part of one of those TimeLife infomercials where they were selling a cd collection they are calling "I love the Night Life." I recognized most of the songs, but not all. It does always amaze me that they can find so many old film clips. The costumes and the dance moves made me laugh. Anyway, I think I only have one disco album in my collection, the Bee Gees Greatest Hits, which, once in a blue moon I dust off and listen to just for old times sake. "How Deep Is Your Love" anyone? :D

Some of the artists I enjoy listening to:
I find myself playing "Disco Fever" a compilation 2 cd set by the "70's Preservation Society" quite often.
Bee Gees Greatest Hits also has several tunes from that time as well.
KC & Sunshine Band has a few disco hits too.
Saturday Night Fever of course.
Heat Wave "Too hot to handle" great album IMO.
Donna Summer Greatest Hits.

Hopefully, just you.

disco?

Reminds me of the Chicago DJ that burned a pile of disco at Wrigley field because he felt it to be so bad for rock. Do you remember? I think his name was Steve Dahl.
I recently got a copy of THE Donna Summer double disk for disco for .25 at the local GW. Really nice to hear the old stuff even though I never disco'd myself. Many friends did and had fun doing it.
Really gets the blood going.

Like you I loved and still love disco music which has endured the test of time. It sure beats the brain damage heavy metal/rock music of that era.

I play Disco occasionaly 'cause I've found 4 tracks cassettes at a quarter each with the '' best of the seventies'' magnetized on them.

I'm shook up, 'cause those cassettes bring back so many , many good memories from times when I wanted so much a STA-2100 and a pair of Mach 1.

That said, Shadow Dancing from RIP Andy Gibb gives me shivers. First loves,
first kiss, mirror ball and friday night dancing at high school.

Wish I was 14 again !

I was also 21 in '76 and didn't care for disco, but the girls always wanted to go to the disco clubs to drink and dance. How could you argue with that?
Even so, it's kinda cool to hear some old disco tunes turn up in current movies now and then.

Once in a great while KC and the Sunshine Band gets a play. Wife and I use to listen to Donna Summer and others but I was always going back to rock & roll.

Miss You was a Disco beat

I've been playing this Amanda Lear disco LP that I picked up a couple of months ago pretty regularly. Some of the 70's disco isn't bad actually. My brother is into this stuff bigtime so I'm always on the lookout for him.

I like Disco also. Don't care for the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack album. There is much better sounding disco than that album. Here are some albums I recommend.
