DIY High or Low Ouput Moving Coil Phono Stage

If you are really having trouble try putting 100pf poly caps across the inputs of the PC3 to see if it fixes it.

I did try putting 100pf polarized metal film caps in, and that actually amplified the issue. I'll try the polyester. And I'm guessing I want non-polar caps?

Since this thing seems to be the defacto moving coil preamp, could someone please make this thread a sticky with the first post being a consolidation of the schematic, parts list, board source and battery power diagram?

I'd love to build one but there's almost too much information here. A step by step guide to building it would be nice, too.

Seconded. Or, at least add it to the existing "DIY Projects & Setup Info" sticky. Thanks!

I'm also guessing some information will need updating, seeing as the thread went dormant almost 4 years ago.

I don't know diddly about this stuff, I probably can solder the right things onto a labeled circuit board and that's it. So now that the disclaimer is out of the way, these look like a match, are they?

One more ?....is the posted parts list for one channel or two? In other words, do I need to double this order for stereo, one for each board?

Ok...I put together an order with DigiKey...though I have not ordered yet. Hopefully someone more well versed in these things than I will review it.

I figured out the answer to my own question, the list of parts in the thread is for one board = one channel. Double the parts list for stereo.

My cart is a DL300, so my numbers plugged into the calculator mean that I need 2 40 ohm 1/4w 1% resistors, but Digikey had no such thing, so I subbed a 1W resistor. That would work, no?

I had to do a number of other substitutions because of the age of the thread and parts that are no longer carried by Digikey. Some were direct replacements. The most egregious substitution was replacing the 2.20K ohm 1/4W 1% resistors with two 1.10K ohm 1/4W 1% resistors that I'll have to wire in series, for a total of 16 parts. I think that will work, no?

Here's the list. Sorry it's small, but I couldn't get a screen shot without scrunching a little.
