Do i need a sub with large speakers?

Hi all. New member . Do you guys think I need a sub if I have large speakers? My speakers are KLH with 15s in them and pyle super tweeters I added with 30 oz magnets. And bose 301 series 3
My reciver is a jvc rx 884v (110 wpc rms) hooked up with a toslink optical cable to my ps3 super slim. It honestly sounds amazing with both the bose and klh both on with no sub. But I can' always have my large klh hooked up in my living room due to there large size and wife complaining. So most of the time it' just the bose and I added a cerwin Vega center channel (e75c) and it sounds good just not enough bass as when the KLH are hooked up too where it sounds like car subs the bass hits so hard haha. Anyway is there anyway I can get more bass out of my system anyhow? I have the compression settings to off. Or is there any good deals on subs anyone knows about for me in Canada

Whether or not you "need" a sub really just comes down to if you are already satisfied with the bass that you get from your speakers or not. Seems that without the KLH speakers, you are not satisfied, so a subwoofer is probably a good route.

I run 3 different pairs of JBL speakers in my music room, and the bass is very good with any of them, and especially with all of them. Yet despite that, I got a pair of subs recently and I don't regret it.

Of course you'd have to make sure you have a place to put a sub that will do what you need. A space that your other half will be OK with. It may not have to be a huge sub but it sounds like you need more than a tiny one.

I doubt that center is helping much with deep bass, it's designed more for the vocal part of video. I'd leave it off when listening to music in stereo. But if you like it, go right ahead. :beerchug:
 
Theoretically, a sub is supposed to add bass extension. That's to say it's designed to take over where your mains fall off and extend the range of your system down to the nether regions. As for adding more bass to the mid/upper bass region, well...
 
Do the big KL's need to be out front like in the picture? I put my Fisher XP 10's in the rear corners behind and outboard of the sofa. She covered them up. It worked. Sweet lady that one.
 
I believe I know those KLH-one of my buddies have (or rather had a pair). They can be loud..really loud. Bass-not so much. At least I mean if you really like deep chest-pounding bass. I would get rid of KLH and Bose and get a set of small bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer. Choices here are virtually limitless! And by the way: those Pyle tweeters wouldn't help much (if at all.)

The klh play down to 20hz lol. Very loud and deep chest pounding bass . Coming from someone who's had cerwin Vega at-15s ,multiple car setups including a jl 15 . The klh deffinatley have good bass for the 50$ I paid . I just have high standards for bass. There also made in America. And the pyle tweeters deffinatley add more detail and clarity. Id say they for sure help.. And not sure id be giving these away just yet .. Bose 301s series 3 go for around 500$ Online and I think they sound great .
