Hey All,

I have seen some of you refer to post count when replying to threads, and I'm wondering how much it really matters. I check in here almost every day, reading new posts and sometimes offering advice or asking questions when needed. I don't however feel it necessary to add a reply to every post I read, mostly because often other people have already said what I needed to say. Chiming in with "i agree" or "welcome to ak" just to add another post to my count seems pointless. I guess im just saying that even though I haven't posted that many times, I do try to be involved in what's going on here. Just a factor of quality over quantity I guess.

I had intended to kill myself after hitting post 1000 because it would mean I tend to not have a life, and then I didn't even notice when I hit and past that milestone. Now my life is in chaos, I didn't plan to live this long, I can't even discern which post was my 1000th to see if it was relevant, frivolous are the inane blatherings of an addle minded dolt like this post is.
 
Post count is important.

If you have about 3,000 you have it right. You are smart and knowledgeable about gear and music.

Less than 2,500, you are a newbie.

More than 4,000, you have no life.

I would personaly say that just because you dont have a high post count dosent mean that you are not knowledgeable about gear and music. You may just not have time to share it with other people.

Chiming in is not always prompted by the desire to postwhore.
 
Without reservation, I concur wholeheartedly with every statement listed above and those opinions that have yet to be posted. Even those that are contradictory in content and nature.

I don't know.. to me it isn't... I see people sya HEY!!! I just hit 2000 posts... I never did that for any of my marks... No big deal to me what my count is...

Do I have no life.. eh.. probably.. OR, then again, maybe I enjoy this place as part of my life....

WHy say welcome to AK? Because it's the polite thing to do to make a person feel welcome, and let them know they are noticed, and makes them feel better about talking on the forums..

Is it polite to not say welcome when some walks in a room... I'd take them as thinking they are too good for me.. SO. there is a great reason to tell people welcome to the forum..

Does having a high or low post count mean you know more or less? Neither.. it just means either you are sociable, or not...

Look at it as real life.. some people are talkers, some are listeners, some are helpers, others are jokers.. we all have a place here.

To me, post count doesn't mean a whole lot, unless it is really low and you are trying to throw your weight around without letting people get to know you first..
