Hmmmpf ! YOU ain't far behind, Big Boy !! (grin) No, post count really doesn't matter..Trying to be friendly, informative, funny, and a decent fellow does.
 
I'm a noob, and I do watch my post count. And I also look to see how many posts other guys have who are offering advice. Generally speaking: the higher the posts, the longer they've been at it/more they know/more experience they've had. = all good for me! (Thanks for everything, by the way!)

WHy say welcome to AK? Because it's the polite thing to do to make a person feel welcome, and let them know they are noticed, and makes them feel better about talking on the forums..

Is it polite to not say welcome when some walks in a room... I'd take them as thinking they are too good for me.. SO. there is a great reason to tell people welcome to the forum..

Does having a high or low post count mean you know more or less? Neither.. it just means either you are sociable, or not...

Look at it as real life.. some people are talkers, some are listeners, some are helpers, others are jokers.. we all have a place here.

To me, post count doesn't mean a whole lot, unless it is really low and you are trying to throw your weight around without letting people get to know you first..

You post count is a measure of the level of participation, but there's different ways to participate - you can axe questions, answer questions, troll, inject humor, or be a smart@$$. It's all good, except trolling and crapping... I've been accused of both!
 
WELl I'm one of the last guy to do a look how many I have thread when I hit 6000. now if you look at my spec's (we all love to look at spec's right?) I do approx. 5 posts a day. Since I normally only work 8 months out of the year I'm sure my average is a bit higher during the winter when I'm home bored but not by much so I guess I have been annoying members since about 1197 days ago!

I think longevity and high signal to noise ratio count (pun intended) more than raw post count number. I've got the former covered pretty well. As for the latter, well, I'm right up there with KenInDC's posts above.
 
Not really, but it gives you a good mark to think about what you have learned and who has helped you since the last milestone. :thmbsp:

Edit: apparently I passed 3,000 recently, didn't even realize it.
