Doom Metal

[Delmarva]

Stoner Doom is a pretty tight pigeonhole to try to fit into. I've got a decent amount of Doom in my collection.
Does a band have to sing about weed to be considered Stoner Doom?

These guys were certainly pioneers of the early Black Sabbath resurrection that came to be known as Doom Metal.

'Old man stuck in a groove'

Is that band Stoner doom?

Oh wait....
That's me.

[Beatnik]

Personally I considered later Trouble to be more Psychedelic than Doom. Still bad ass.

Ever think the vintage speakers you got from the original owner are thinking “what the heck is this crap your making me play”?

Not Stoner Doom, but certainly Doom.

I've really been digging these guys from Australia. It's some really trippy, fuzzy goodness. Give it a minute, it's doom I promise.

[WillVT]

Does the Japanese band Church of Misery qualify as Stoner Doom? Stoner Doom about serial killers?
And I think the bass player needs a prize for the lowest slung bass...

Definitely Doom! I'm good friends with The Skull's former drummer, who also drummed for Pentagram and Bang.

[Delmarva]

Wow, didn't realize how many drummers The Skull has been through. The album was recorded with Trouble's Jeff Olson, but they've had a total of four drummers in just six years of existence.

Here's some of the pioneers of Doom and their 2016 live release.

My friend Sean Saley on drums for Pentagram at Hellfest 2012. Pretty sure they did some shows with Saint Vitus that year.
