Dual 1218

A friend just got himself a Dual 1218 that looks pretty nice, but has a problem. As long as it is pluuged in, it turns. Has anyone had this experience and how did you fix it?

Power switch isn't being turned off. Look underneath for a mechanical connection that keeps it pushed in. Pics of the bottom help jog the memory, too.

The long, flat steel lever has a pivot that gums up.
Also, the speed control gums up, which inhibits motion of said lever as well as limiting idler wheel bracket travel.

Same basic design as in the 1229, it's big sister
