Dual 1219 Hums

Greeting,
Dual 1219 hum is quite high around -35 dB
Is it worth cleaning the rubber wheels and the drive or should I buy a belt machine?
How quiet are more serious belt machines down there?

Before doing anything drastic clean the contacts on the headshell and sled. I use a little silver polish on a Q-tip.

If no joy there clean the RCA jacks and plugs and check your grounding wire.

I haven't got grounding wire and I use a tube MM phono between amp and TT
Thank you
If you mean a preamp, try a bonding wire between the preamp and the TT.

The cleaning suggestions above by RWood are also important for Dual tables that induce “hum”.

Ground to MM phono ready. I will do it same between phono to TT tomorrow. Looking for a good body contact point.
Cheers

Agree. Clean contact on sled and the small circuit board on the arm. Then use Q tip with alcohol to clean off polish. If your 1219 has a ground wire make sure the connection is tight. These Duals had two different headshells TK 14 and TK 24. The later TK 24 has four pins that make contact to the arm. They were better. While I am not affiliated with BEST, I have replaced many of the sleds on my collection of Duals. The RCA cords check for tightness. If original they are 50 yrs old. Replace them.

As far as noise level, a 1219 is quiet. Have owned belt and direct drives. Have 9 Duals. Three 1219s, two 1019s, 2 1009SKs, a 1015 and a 1010S. All are quiet. Seven are hooked up and see use. I wouldn’t be in a hurry to let go of that 1219.

Sorry for the wrong information, the fault is in the MM phono amp
It got worse with grounding and there is a strong asymmetry between the two channels
I have to contact their manufacturer

Directly from the TT to rca output, it is quite silence (without ground)
I want this even after Riaa correction

What is the 4 dB difference? Azimuth or Antiscating?
I should make recordings from my Clearaudio measuring disccapture_001_15052024_110822.jpgcapture_002_15052024_110826.jpg

Recording directly from Clearaudio test LP to Tascam DR100 Mk3 (without preamp and grounding wire) 24 bit/192kHz
1 kHz test tone L+R
As I see the TT geometrical settings are OK
If I use Tascam preamp the signal/noise ratio better approx 10 dB then with tube preamp and RIAA
For music digitalization I create a "custom Riaa" 30 band EQ profile in Audition as I hear with Beyerdynamic 990pro
Has anyone done a similar recording series and analysis? Is this method good or where can it go wrong?
