Not sure where you are located but I can personally attest to NoTransistors. Seth is a master craftsman. If you're anywhere near the Northeaster United States you are well-advised to speak with Seth.

Hey Butch
HTF are you doing?
I am all packed and ready to move.
Waiting to close up here and moving to New Port Richey.
Repair business will be up and running ASAP
Free alligator, poisonous toad or venomous pit viper to first hundred customers! For the less adventurous, we also offer cute little lizards or palmetto bugs.
Carry-ins still welcomed but as always, most stuff will still be done by mail.

Firsthand experience w/ fixmydual.com - fantastic service, very fast, very reasonable. Local guy wouldn't touch my dual.

Notransistors AKA Seth did a hell of a job on a "basket case" 1229 that I sent him. However he is apparently in the process of moving now so I don't know when he'll be taking on new work again. I'd send him my 1229Q this weekend if he'd take it on.

Also, where are you? I have a local tech who I'd trust; I haven't personally had a Dual done by him but he has a couple in his shop now and I have a friend who lives several states away who swears that this guy is the only guy who he will let touch his B&O stuff. But get this - HE'S MOVING TOO! augh...

Nate!!!

I have that problem too. You just mention Dual and the cussin' starts! lol I'm wondering if we are using the same tech!

Personally I cuss at Dual but the one turntable that I well and truly gave up on was a Garrard Lab 80... I seriously gave it away because it would have cost me more in tools to fix it than it was worth. Hopefully it lives today.

I also have a Technics SL-1650. Unlike Japanese cars, that table was actually apparently intended to be serviced by mortal humans. I've had that thing apart several times and it's refreshingly easy to work on.

I have a lot of respect for those that work on Duals, they are very tricky. I bought a 1249 for super cheap earlier this year and tried to fix a very stiff tonearm and ended up turning into a parts table. There are so many small springs, levers, and other components that are not easy to work with.

In my younger days I was a pinsetter mechanic. Everything was gears and such - very mechanical, TONS of parts. I think Duals are worse! lol! My tech just says "German engineering my @$$". I have three Duals I'd like to get going again but he won't even look at 'em. Can't blame him though - he's about to retire. He doesn't want the aggravation (plus he's a good guy, so...).

Seth, brother, I'm so effn' outstanding I can't stand myself. Haulin' your ole cantankerous self outta Brooklyn eh? Hope they speak your lingo in New Port Richey. Good luck with that move.

Klaus - aka Dualcan - did an amazing job on my 1219. Mine had the dreaded broken Dearing ring, and he replaced it with a metal one that should def. hold up better than the original plastic. Every piece of that 'table was removed, cleaned, checked, brought into spec (or replaced). It was then reassembled, lubed, and tested. I think it has to be better than new! At any rate, it sounds truly amazing and performs flawlessly.
