Dual Anti-Resonator - whatzit?

My Dual 606 has an adjustable, graduated ring just in front of and attached to the counterweight, labeled "Anti-Resonator". My manual makes no mention of its purpose. Can anyone enlighten me?

It is to fine-tune the resonance filter in the counterweight to better serve your particular arm/cartridge combination. Perhaps the Vinyl Engine website has the complete manual in its archives. Or, perhaps, it is the counterweight from a different Dual, as it is not mentioned in the manual.

The manual came with a supplement that tells you how to adjust the filter based on the compliance of your cartridge. The TKS55E that typically came with this table, as an example, is set to about 12 as I recall. I am currently running an OMB-10 on mine and have it set to the same value - though I'm not sure this is correct. I'll look up your cart and post the correct value after I have a chance to check it out.

My CS-714Q has the same thing, though I have no clue how and if it actually works.

Looks like you should set it to 12.5

Your cartridge weighs 5g with the weight, 2.5 without. Its compliance is 25um/mN according to Ortofons website. Using the 2.5g weight, the chart shows you should set the anti-resonance filter to 12.5. Also, incase you didn't know, if you turn it to the wedge shaped area this will protecte it for transport.
